Filthy Rich: The Billionaire's Sex Scandal--The Shocking True Story of Jeffrey Epstein
I read this to study style and format for a non-fiction court/trial subject matter and was not disappointed. Researched and written with John Connolly, an investigative reporter, and Tim Malloy, print and television journalist, James Patterson turned out yet again an interesting and page-turning book.
Chapters remain short 2 — 4 pages in this 287 page book, including Coda and Epilogue.
The subject is Jeffery Epstein, convicted in 2008, for soliciting an underage girl for prostitution. He serves 13 months of an 18 month sentence in the Palm Beach County Central Detention Center [the Stockade]. Wearing an ankle bracelet Epstein has "work release" privileges and allowed to leave prison grounds six days a week to go to his attorney's office, his office, or to his home on El Brillo Way in Palm Beach.
In chapter's 32—33, Donald Trump bars Epstein from Mar-a-Lago when a member of the posh private resort complains to Trump his young daughter has been invited to Epstein's house, about two miles from the twenty acre resort. She goes, then complains to her father Epstein tries to get her to undress.
Patterson writes, "...in no uncertain terms [Trump] told Epstein that he was barred from Mar-a-Lago" and Trump severs all ties with him.
Epstein caters to ex-presidents [Clinton]; international politicians, royalty [Prince Andrew]; CEOs, Hollywood moguls ... you get the picture. His parties are infamous. His penchant for young girls, 14 and up, remains hidden from public scrutiny. The exceptions are those Eyes Wide Shut elite who pander along with his pedophile whims.
Patterson, Connolly and Malloy have taken a sensitive subject and presented it with taste, in an interesting format in the Patterson drama to keep you turning the pages.

Riveting and very disturbing. I knew about Epstein, but the full magnitude of just how evil a man he is was astonishing. James Patterson nailed it and I would like to thank him for at least giving society an eye opener to the plight of children. Very well done. Children have no voice and no choice. To think that these children were recruited for Epstein by other children is chilling. Every person must become a voice for the children who have no voice and no choice.

I am so intrigued by the Jeffrey Epstein case which has been brought to light of recent, of which this is the first I have ever heard of this dreadful sounding character, and after watching James Patterson's interview on YouTube regarding his new book on Epstein, I decided to read it. I barely got a quarter of the way through, and just couldn't stomach the appalling juvenile style of writing, with limited, repetitive, vocabulary. (I have never read any of JP's vast array of books, as I have always known them to be very badly written, but I thought I would give this one a go, needless to say, I was unsurprisingly disappointed). He must have written the book in just a few hours, and his story, which was not only composed in an amateurish form & style, but the media had already exposed much the same story on tv, so there was nothing really new to tell. The book is not worth reading, so don't waste your time or money.

Would have been a "5" but the publishers Skipped the INDEX and plastered advertising at the end. Pretty cheesy decision.
On the whole, this is a book incredibly important for the well being of our children, and to bare down on the pricks of this case who call themselves lawyers -- they enabled an extremely successful, almost industrial-level, serial child rapist.
Why? Because Epstein was Filthy Rich. In American Justice, money talks. And in Epstein's case, it screamed.
Hats off to Patterson for walking on the wild side of non-fiction. The world of sane, healthy people, and all parents, owe him and the others a lot of gratitude for getting this story out to the public. Child Sex Trafficking is the scourge of the 1%. Epstein over here, and Savile across the Pond, each will become doors to this dark, foul world of sexual parasites feeding on the most vulnerable, just like the Vatican became a symbol for the same in the church. Hooyah.

The headline says it all.
Acosta is big in the news. Read this book to get the details.
Be aware that Patterson is a big friend of Bill Clinton.
And, ask yourself this: WHY DID PATTERSON NOT WRITE ABOUT CYRUS VANCE trying to get his sex offender status reduced? That was in 2011.

First, I never read any James Patterson book, so some of the bad reviews seem to be from his readers expecting probably more something along the lines of this regular books. I have followed Epstein in the news for the past 10 years and recently sailed by his island in the Virgin Islands so I figured it would be a good beach read. It was an easy, interesting read, although I would have liked to have read more about the guy and specifically how he got his money. The book mainly focused on his harem of underage girls and the court cases surrounding them. Much of the book was copy/paste from the court material. I think the author also intentionally left out some unsavory details on other close associates and was disappointed by this. You can google around of all the high profile politicians and celebs that misbehaved on his island and in his jet yet the author glosses over those parts and doesn't even bring up some names.

The Jeffrey Epstein case has fascinated and revolted many of us since it became public knowledge. However, Epstein’s insidious actions have been happening a lot longer than his arrest and subsequent death in 2019. In James Patterson’s book Filthy Rich we look at the historic sex crimes committed by Epstein and others who are implicated by association.
Filthy Rich is an in-depth look at who the man was, where he came from and how he got to be as powerful as he was at the time of arrest. With short, to the point chapters, this no frills book really does get straight to the point and doesn’t quibble with speculation or drama.
True crime is not really a genre that I am au fait with however, if they were all written as well as Filthy Rich was written then I would be reading much much more.
Filthy Rich – The True Story Behind the Jeffrey Epstein Sex Scandal by James Patterson is available now.

Why does James Patterson have to sensationalise this story - to make it titillating makes him and the reader (to a lesser extent) part of this sick story. I didn't bother finishing it. Sensationalised and probably not accurate, it just stinks of propaganda to me. Have a fall guy for others who are really doing worse.

This is a very thin, sloppily written book which is surprising considering it took 3 people to write it. There has to be better written books about this subject, out there.

Factual and well researched and led me to believe that the story will not go away as the facts are screaming out. He either had a lot of dirt on everyone or felt he was untouchable. I hope the girls get some closure on what he did to them
