I have the other two Ultimania books, and this is very similar in terms of content and quality. What I found kind of depressing, however, were the sections covering the online games, XI and XIV.
It feels like a lot of stuff got left out of the XI section, and XIV is laughably bad. Like, ten pages in a 334 page book. That's not an exaggeration.
If you're a fan of X, XII, and XIII, you won't be disappointed, but if you are a fan of XIV you might be better served by buying the Japanese art books for that specific game.

I now have all 3 books and honestly this is the only one that disappoints. Other reviewers have commented on it and it's true. 11 and 14 are very light in terms of material. Granted both can and do have their own books just on them...it still feels like a cop out to have them be almost just an afterthought. Things like, all of the other games have all of the summons/primals/avatars/whatever they are called in that game. Other things that felt omitted from 11 and 14: could have showed more of the job art, more weapons graphics, more of the art that is already out there. Now, having said that, FF!2 ALSO is missing material. It has 3 of the 12 summons! 15 airship pictures but only 3 summons. Also, x-2, xii-2,3, and any of the expansions for 11 and 14 get 0 coverage. I could see leaving out the online games IF you fully covered the offline games, but even they were light for this book.
What's there is nice, it's what's missing that is why I gave this book a lower star review.

Like the previous 2 archives, the books are high quality with great art and information. Unfortunately, this book is lacking. For example, Final Fantasy X-2 is briefly mentioned, but not covered. Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns are also not covered. The section for Final Fantasy XIV is literally like 15 pages or less. I realize that in previous books, they haven't covered the spin-off games and such from other main releases, but I sort of consider X-2, XIII-2, and Lightning Returns as AAA quality full-sized cross-platform sequels directly tied to the main series.
Maybe there are additional books planned to cover all the spin-off and sequel games, but I don't see any pre-orders. I think the better option may have been to have this book cover Final Fantasy X (X & X-2), XI, and XII. Maybe then a 4th book in the series with XIII (XIII, XIII-2, and LR), XIV (With much more devoted to the game as it has an interesting story and development), and XV.
I wasn't surprised to not see Final Fantasy Type 0, Crisis Core or Dirge FF7, or any other sequels/spin-offs that may have only gotten a limited platform release (FF XII Revenant Wings, FF IV After Years, etc.), but the X and XIII sequels just seemed like major releases to me that should have been covered. I'm also just not sure why XIV is even included in this based on the coverage it got, either.
It's worth the $20 to finish the collection, but a major let-down compared to the first 2 books.

This book primarily features artwork and concept art along with translations.
Like other people have said, this book is quite lacking in regards to its XIV content, but I would like people to know that this Ultimania Archive book series was already published in Japan in 2012 for the franchise’s 25th anniversary. Yes, they could’ve included more for the base game, but it is understandable for its lack of coverage for the expansions. Since the HD remasters of X|X-2 and XII had not been released at that time, new artwork for said games are not included as well, other than the box art and release date.
I am a huge XIII fan and this book is great in providing a more inside look into the thought and art direction that went into this game. It doesn't include every artwork that has been published elsewhere or shared publicly, but it does have art that I haven’t seen before and that were not even included in the Ultimania books (such as Ultimania Omega, Scenario Ultimania, and Battle Ultimania that other FF titles—including spin-offs—receive) that were released in Japan. I noticed that there was even a piece of art included that I only had the chance of seeing from attending the 30th Anniversary Art Exhibition at Gallery Nucleus!
There are relationship charts for the characters of each game with the exception of XIV. There are also pages going into short descriptions of NPCs and side characters. At the very end there are some comments from some of the people who worked on the games, such as art director Isamu Kamikokuryo and composer Naoshi Mizuta.
One thing I absolutely love about this book is seeing all of the pencil sketches and concepts side by side with the finalized CG art. Even storyboards are included! X receives an entire section of storyboards while XII and XIII each get one scene, I believe.
All in all, if you are a fan of FF this is definitely a book you should consider getting, but if you’re primarily into XIV, then maybe not.
And hey, since this book series and the FF novels have been getting English translations, maybe the aforementioned Ultimania books may receive them too! Fingers crossed.

This book covers from XI to XIV. Good detail on all of them....except FFXIV, but I'll get to that. FFXI, FFXII, and FFXIII have a lot of content in this book and you'll spend hours reading it cause of how much they put in each game. Never played FFXI so I loved on how detailed on each part they go through. Now....FFXIV...oh god I'm so disappointed. There's literally like 20 pages of it, and it just ends. No details on a lot of ARR, and absolutely none on HW and SB (Shadowbringers just came out during this review so I'd expect it to not be in here). I do hope they make another one w/ HW and SB and FFXV afterwards cause i want more stuff from them.

I got this a gift and I saw the reviews saying there was dents in the book and corners. But I took a chance and went with it. The book itself is substantial and more than I thought it was going to be. But the corner came slightly bent and there was a dent in the front. But it doesn’t take away from the book and it’s contents. It’s not as bad as the other reviews at least.

A Must-Have for any Final Fantasy lover

The third volume in the Final Fantasy ultimania series exceeds all expectations as usual with stunning paper quality, concept art and details which not many fans know about from games X, XII and XIII as well as the online entries of XI and XIV though these are not as thoroughly covered as the mainline entries.
There is a lack of coverage regarding X-2 as well as XIII-2 and Lightning Returns which is slightly disappointing but definitely does not deduct from the quality and content of this Ultimania.
