The other WTH moment with me is, Levi never actually says WHY he assumed what he did about her. He was an ass. She took him back awfully fast. Within the set up of the story, while you’re in it, it makes sense, and it’s hot, and they’re good, but hard-bitten or not, I can’t shake that “doormat” feeling. She protests during a mission, but still lets the guys take over.
Levi getting told off at least twice were the highlights of the book.
So, while I might have given this five stars, this aspect of the story irritates me.
First let me say that I enjoy a multi-book set, I like to know more about the friends and the family of the hero and heroine. In this series Riley Edwards has done a great job telling each characters story yet tying each character and each story line together. Careful editing does not catapult you out of the story and overall there are very few bumps in the series.
In addition, I appreciate how Ms. Edwards has dealt with the military – insightfully, respectfully and with honor. Thank you for showing us the problems they deal with, personally and professionally, so that we do not have to deal with them. Bravo Zulu.
If you are looking for an enjoyable read I recommend this series. Free – extended version is offered as an incentive to sign up for her mailing list, sign up of follow her on Amazon but the prologue of Freeing Jasper is a better “extended” version.
I was transported into the lives of these characters, feeling like I knew them personally. I think each book was better than the last, and as much as I enjoyed this one, the fourth book is even better.
Military suspense romance is one of my favorite genres, and this author does a fantastic job of writing it. I will be looking for more from her.
