Finally Freed is the true story of a young girl under the control of a man 13 years her senior. Tammie came into this world as a child of innocence. She had to learn how to be a real warrior, to fight, and win that battle against him. Even through all the physical abuse, continuously scornful insults, and humiliations from Kevin, God protected her. She found comfort in God's presence. She could hear His voice when Kevin left her alone on that hill. As the winds howled past the house on that vacant lot, God never left her side. Within herself, Tammie found a unique type of calm that took anything remotely good and made it appear inconceivably beautiful. She knew that the little girl inside her, the one who Kevin took away from her family, was still there. He believed that he owned her, but the truth is he never did.

This book is an incredible story of a young girl who had no self esteem or self worth because she was robbed of it at such a young age. Then a purely evil man holds her captive for 12 years. Her reflection back of years of abuse, mentally and physically, is overwhelming to comprehend. I can't imagine that such atrocities occur, even though in my own heart I know. My heart would break for her as I read. There were times I literally cried as I watched her become stronger, lean on her faith and finally get out.

For women everywhere who have suffered at the hands of cruelty, Ms. Kechula's memory of her emotions, thoughts, feelings and even rationalizations that it was all her fault and she somehow deserved it, to believing that it was love, brought back way too many memories. However, knowing that those feelings were hers, made me somehow feel comfort that I was not alone. If you have suffered this will help you too. This story also gives us signs to look for. It is a clear cut case of "something is wrong." We all need to be aware and look for those signs.

I recommend this highly. This is a message that needs to get out there. I do believe this story can help others to heal. It has meant so much to me.

I came to know about this book from a Facebook group. Then I got to know Tammie and her husband through their posts in the same group and their positive vibes impressed me and touched me somewhere. I was curious to know what the book will be about and being a book lover, I bought it.

I was shaken at what the little girl had been through and my curiosity to end the book to reach the happy phase grew because I can see her present. It's a story everyone should read, it gives you the sense of believing in your God and always be grateful come what may. But it really tore me thinking of what all she been through and how brave she is to escape, accept and share this. Also my respect grew for her husband, for his respect and love for her.

For how the book is written - from the pages to the font, it feels good to read through. The use of words is not complex to show the knowledge of the language as many authors do, this is outpour of the heart.

Her tale is one many of our young women should read. Our young are concerned with being popular, being liked, and being a part of something to the point that they could easily be "groomed" by a man like Kevin. Trust God and trust your heart.
