- Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2013A beautiful book! Filled with happy colors and cute collections. Beci shares her studio and the little things that inspire her. I enjoy Japanese design and packaging, stationery, and childlike fun, this book was just that. I also liked the assortment of DIY projects. This book inspired me to get crafting.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2014I've been gazing at this book, fascinated, ever since I received it from Amazon. That, and Beci Orpin's other book HOME, which I bought in the same order. Even though I've been flipping through the pages at the alluring eye candy of photography and layout, both books more or less blend in together for me.
I love Beci Orpin's style, aesthetics, and even the personality that comes through her writing. That is why I'm keeping the books. But as other reviewers have noticed, the projects are completely ho-hum. One does not need a $25 list price book to make pom-poms! The level of mediocrity is not only disappointing, but a little insulting. For that, I'd give the book one or two stars.
I'd give it five stars, if it were a big, color, coffee-table book with more photos of Beci's HOUSE. This is the real charm of both Find & Keep and Home. I can stare at a photo of Beci's bookshelf for an hour. I want to see how she organizes her kitchen. I want to see a close-up of her nightstand. I'd pay to see inside her bathroom cabinet (I know!). She has that sort of amazingly artistic, inspiring way of curating everyday, normal items that is fascinating.
It reminds me a little how I felt upon looking at Mary Engelbreit's first Home Companion book (yes, I know that was a long, long time ago). I could pour over the pages of HC, and loved how Engelbreit decorated with humble thrift store items, well-loved toys from childhood, and handcrafted items. I felt excited when I saw something I already had and could use in a new way, or inspired to make something to brighten my own home. Beci Orpin's books might do that for me, in an updated way. Except Orpin's style is so quirky and particular, that if I decorated my home with kids' drawings, old buttons and doll heads my family would send me to the loony bin.
If Beci puts out more books, I will probably buy them. But next time, I hope she aims higher, and gives us either better crafts, or more style shots of her quirky home.
Still love ya, Beci.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2012I bought this for Christmas for my daughter. We are both crafty and green. We loved the projects in this book. They led us to think of other uses and that is what crafting is all about. Fun for new crafters as well as experienced folks.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2017The problem is that i found lots of the stuff in the artists pictures of items around her house to be nicer than the stuff she gives you instructions on, the actual projects are a bit odd and not very useful to me, but i give it 4 stars because i do find the book to be very inspirational and creatively put together, the sticker sheet in the back is a cute touch. I'm not sure how many of the projects I'll do, but the photos of her place gave me some fun ideas.

marimerveilleReviewed in France on January 8, 20165.0 out of 5 stars Un livre d'inspiration

Alicia RoselloReviewed in Spain on June 18, 20134.0 out of 5 stars Libro muy bonito

SoniaReviewed in Italy on January 9, 20144.0 out of 5 stars Colorato!
...Volevo questo libro a tutti i costi...!!!
Così 'pieno' e colorato trasmetteva molta allegria...!!!
Mi sono riempita gli occhi con le splendide immagini e i diversi progetti proposti, alcuni dei quali però non di mio gradimento...
...Penso che sia solo però una questione di gusti!
Consigli utili, bellissime foto e alcune cosine da rifare!
J. BorlandReviewed in the United Kingdom on May 22, 20135.0 out of 5 stars Great Aesthetics and Inspiration
I just love this book - bigger than I thought with lovely photography and cute rounded pages. very nice to handle .. On a first flick through there are a mix of projects and inspiration. Anyone having done an Arts course will recognise the working methods, collecting, recording, developing, designing all done in a very sympathetic and appealing way. The whacky mix of inspiration just adds to the mix. The kind of book I will pick up again and again.
