Faith had issues with her parents controlling her life along with self esteem issues from her ex and Ben had some pretty intense issues himself but what I found was that; everything the author made you think was the focus of the story, turned out not to be. The initial plot about Faith's family getting in her way was a non sequitur after a certain point and evolved into something else. Just when I thought it would get in the way of her and Ben's romance, something else entirely got thrown into the mix and became the central focus. The first half felt like it was building into a nice conclusion but as soon as the roller coaster crested it was all downhill from there and I felt like the story would never end! Things took a turn I didn't expect but ultimately became predictable once you get your bearings on where your'e at. Which wasn't all together terrible it was just...ok.
Finding Faith got a little syrupy and became a sort of soap opera after a while. It felt rushed at a particular point then started to drag in another. With that being said, I did enjoy the love story between Ben and Faith and did push myself to keep reading despite everything. It did have a sweet quality to it, but it would have been stronger if the things I mentioned had been the actual conflict instead of the plot that came out of left field when it did. For a debut it wasn't bad though. I do find myself curious about the secondary characters and their love stories to follow, I just hope they turn out to be a little stronger.
Faith Sorenson’s only hope to escape her controlling parents, neighbourhood and cheating ex-fiance is to move to another state and into small town called Bedford Park. She vows to herself she will never get involved again with someone she can’t trust and never get in an controlling relationship ever again. She swears off men. That is, until she meets her new and very sexy neighbour, who is determined to tear down the walls Faith has built around her heart. Ben Reynolds, her neighbour, looks at her she has never experienced before in a way that it sears her soul. Faith is beginning to think that he might be worth the risk.
Ben is now an outgoing hunk of a man who longs for a wife and family of his own, after overcoming a childhood wrought with fear and self-doubt. He discovered that serial dating was not the way to find a suitable woman and when he discovers his new and beautiful red headed neighbour he is absolutely sure he has found the woman, meant for him. Now he only has to prove her, he is a man she can trust and put her faith in.
Hot nights and a newfound trust have Faith thinking she might get her happy-ever-after. But a twist of fate has other plans, and now Ben must gamble his last chance of happiness on a daring marriage of convenience. Unfortunately, only time will tell if their love is enough to overcome the obstacles life has thrown at them.
