From the Author
At its genesis, this book was not intended to be a book at all. It was a collection of my own thoughts and notes as I studied a subject that had been troubling me for some time. A dear friend of mine was dying, and I wanted to know why. Rather than find answers, the longer and deeper I dug, I found more questions. It was the paradoxical small bottle that, once you climbed inside, you discovered it was larger on the inside than it was on the outside. The collection of notes eventually became a book.
Some have asked about the title Finding Faith in Slow Motion. As noted in the Introduction, I don't know that we ever find faith in a final sense of finding. It's not something we reach or achieve, but rather something that is always morphing, growing, adjusting. This happens over years, not weeks, almost as if it is taking place in slow motion. Looking back, however, one sees an unmistakable path, a journey over time.
As you work through these pages, my prayer is that you find the journey challenging and meaningful.
