Finding Kyler was a book which surprised me due to its depth of the story and Faye's new life living with her Uncle and 7 cousins after the death of her parents. Furthermore, being uprooted from Ireland was something Faye never expected to do and went through great lengths to get used to her new life. I admired Faye's tenacity in staying true to herself and finding love in such a precarious situation.
Will definitely be reading Book 2!
I don’t know for sure since this is only the second book I’ve read from Siobhan Davis, but I’m sensing a pattern here (a really freaking good pattern) where my nose is basically glued to the pages. Davis is a pro at pulling the emotional strings of her readers. I could feel it in every page and every suspenseful moment and dramatic scene felt personal like it actually happened to me. She made me love the protagonists like my own family and truly hate the antagonists like I never hated anyone in real life. I do not know how she does it, but she does it pretty much perfectly and that is what makes this author an excellent writer.
As good as this book was it was also kind of unrealistically messy. I felt that the Kennedy brothers and Faye’s personalities was a bit too much in every direction. The player was coming across as to much of a pervert. The thrill seeker only sought one thrill through the entire story, the joker was never much of a comedian. He just came across as friendly and relaxed. And the worst one was Faye. She was supposed to be very honest, friendly and confident, yet also distant and emotional confused after her parents passing. Sure, she was all those things, but it was not balanced very well. Her confident streak sometimes made her seem more rude and self involved than self-assured. The honesty trait was at times annoying because she involved herself in others peoples private business. Even her emotions over her parents at one time or two made it kind of seem like she was looking for pity and attention. I would have liked her to be more humble, but maybe that’s just my personal opinion.
I could go on and on with all the brothers and even James about the less favorable traits in their personalities as well, but to make it short; for being a family they did not connect much as one personality-wise. They were just too different. Every event and twist also was taken a bit too far to be realistic and as much as I loved at the twist and the unexpected turn of events it just became a bit too much and too often to be relatable at some points.
At the end of the day, I really, absolutely one hundred pro cent enjoyed the story. Event, twists and characters despite their small flaws, was still amazingly written. To be able to make a reader see past the less favorable aspects in a book is what makes an expert author after all.
I literally gasped and let out a few curse words at that ending. It was absolutely awesome! I honestly didn't think it would go there. Never saw it coming! Fantastic ending!
Faye’s parents are killed in a car accident. After the funeral she finds out that her mother set it up for her to go live with her uncle James even though she didn’t know her mother had a brother. James takes her home with him. I love the chemistry between Faye and Kyler. The storyline line keeps you interested throughout the entire book. I can’t wait to read the next book of this series when it comes out later this month.
