Sea it like never before! For the first time ever, through the magic of Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D, fully immerse yourself in the stunning underwater world of Disney/Pixar's FINDING NEMO! From the creators of TOY STORY and MONSTERS, INC., this critically acclaimed and heartwarming tale splashes off the screen with brilliant digital picture, high definition sound and breathtaking bonus features that transport you beyond your imagination. In the depths of the Great Barrier Reef, Marlin (Albert Brooks), an overly protective clownfish, embarks on a daring rescue mission when his beloved son, Nemo, gets scooped up by a diver. With his unforgettable friend Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) by his side, Marlin encounters an ocean full of memorable comedic characters on his momentous journey -- to find Nemo. Bring home the humor and heartfelt emotion of the epic adventure that captured the Academy Award for "Best Animated Feature Film" (2003) -- now more awesome than ever on Disney Blu-ray!
If there's any environment that demands 3-D treatment, it's the ocean. Pixar has lovingly translated its 2003 megahit Finding Nemo into 3-D. The result is a lush, inviting undersea world that makes this wonderful tale of loss, parental love, and thrilling adventure even more engaging. The company has wisely not altered the story at all: when a young clownfish named Nemo is captured by scuba divers, his neurotic father Marlin (voiced by neurotic comedian Albert Brooks) sets off to the rescue, aided by a blue tang fish named Dory (brilliantly voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) with a short-term memory loss problem. What follows are ingeniously orchestrated action sequences featuring sharks, jellyfish, a ghastly translucent deepwater fish, pelicans and seagulls, sea turtles, and even an elaborate escape from an aquarium in an Australian dentist's office--all enhanced (but not overdone) by being made 3-D. Through it all runs a deep current of emotion that has made Finding Nemo one of Pixar's most successful features. This 3-D release will only add to its appeal; Marlin and Dory's odyssey through the watery depths is made even more immersive by this marriage of subtle artistry and technical skill. --Bret Fetzer

Well when it came out on blu-ray (and 3D!) I didn’t hesitate to pick it up for my own young one. It’s aged extremely well, and actually looks really great in hi-def. It has, as expected, become one of my kid’s favorite animated movies. It looks pretty cool in 3D too, in case you’re considering replacing an older copy for an updated one.
The basic plot is that Marlin is an overprotective father who lost his wife and most of his children in a barracuda attack. His only surviving child is a little clownfish named Nemo, who happens to also have a bad fin. On the first day of school Nemo's class goes to the dropoff (where the reef stops and the ocean gets deep), where Nemo and his new friends see a boatand decide to have a competition to see who can swim closer. Marlin shows up, becomes overprotective and Nemo rebells. He gets caught by a diver and put in a fishtank. The remainder of the story is how scaredy cat (er, fish) Marlin goes on a fantastic journey to find his son.
I saw some reviewers complaining that the story isn't realistic - but is it supposed to be? It's supposed to be entertaining and fun, which is it. The characters are all funny, likeably and interesting. Dory, who Marlin befriends on his journey, is hilarious throughout the whole movie ("Yes, I'm a natural blue!").
The graphics are amazing as well - Pixar keeps raising the bar with each movie they make. The bottom line is, this movie is visually stunning, the story is wonderful, the characters are great.. its one of the best movies of the year - no question in my mind! The DVD is also a great buy - it has tons of features including some behind the scenes stuff that is really interesting. I especially liked the special which basically went through the entire process of making the movie (albeit condensed - the movie took like 3 years to make!). Another especially neat feature was how they watched real fish and tried to make all the computerized fish as realistic as possible.
It's a great buy - I highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed!
Finding nemo always looked great in the theatres and on Blu-ray. But when they decided to remaster this movie into 3D, I just had to buy it. So far I own every 3D Blu-ray Pixar movies, including Monsters Inc, Monster's University,Up, Cars, Cars 2, Brave, and Toy Story 1-3. But Finding Nemo 3D looks absolutely the most amazing and gorgeous. All the scenes underwater which is like 99% of the movie is just breath taking. The coral, the water particles, all the fish, the background/backdrop looks so realistic. The detail down to the last spec/pixel is just so clear, if you don't make yourself aware that this is a CG movie, you will mistake it for real life. Even if you are aware, it looks aesthetically beautiful that you don't even care.
Keep in mind that I'm assuming you have a top quality 3D HDTV, I have a Samsung 60 inch 3D HDTV, so my 3D movies looks incredible.
Bonus features are great, comes with 5 discs and even digital copy which is a huge plus. This ultimate collector's edition is not cheap, but it is worth every penny.
