Review

"Fans of Borum's Painting the Moon will enjoy this return to the idyllic setting and quirky characters of the small English village of Chilton Crosse." ~Publishers Weekly

"In Finding the Rainbow, we meet new friends in Chilton Crosse and we get a glimpse into the lives of old friends as well. This story is so much about the importance of family! The Newbury family is a loving close-knit family, but changes are coming and with changes, challenges. . . . Make yourself a steaming cup of hot tea or chocolate, sit in a comfy chair and travel, once again, to Chilton Crosse."  ~Katie's Cottage Books

"I just loved everything about this novel, from it's great characters to the entertaining storyline and the author's well-paced and enjoyable writing style. 'Finding the Rainbow' is an amazingly warm and simply lovely novel which I didn't want to ever end; a great second part of the Chilton Crosse series and I already can't wait for the next one!" ~Jody, a Spoonful of Happy Endings

"Finding the Rainbow is a sweet story that is similar in some way to Painting the Moon, but has a little Notting Hill twist with a dash of The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain."
~TH Hernandez, blogger

About the Author

Traci Borum is a writing teacher and native Texan. She’s also an avid reader of women’s fiction, most especially Elin Hilderbrand and Rosamunde Pilcher novels. Since the age of 12, she’s written poetry, short stories, magazine articles, and novels. Traci also adores all things British. She even owns a British dog (Corgi) and is completely addicted to Masterpiece Theater–must be all those dreamy accents! Aside from having big dreams of getting a book published, it’s the little things that make her the happiest: deep talks with friends, a strong cup of hot chocolate, a hearty game of fetch with her Corgi, and puffy white Texas clouds always reminding her to “look up, slow down, enjoy your life.”

When Holly's mother died, Holly chose to remain at home to help her newly widowed father care for her younger sisters. Now, six years later, Holly is wanting to love and be loved and marry. Fletcher, a Texan, arrives in Chilton Crosse with film makers from America to make the movie "Emma," by Jane Austen. Fletcher and Holly meet and become friends, they are definitely there for one another. To celebrate the arrival of the film makers and the filming of "Emma," a book group is started in the community and it is decided the group will begin by reading and discussing, "Emma."

Welcome back to Chilton Crosse! This is the second book in a series. I was thrilled to discover so many references to "Emma" in Traci's new book. "Emma," by Jane Austen is my favorite! Yes, that's right, Emma and Mr. Knightley won out over Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett. But, I digress. At the beginning of each chapter there is a quote by Jane Austen. I liked that!

In "Finding the Rainbow," we meet new friends in Chilton Crosse and we get a glimpse into the lives of old friends as well. This story is so much about the importance of family! The Newbury family is a loving close-knit family, but changes are coming and with changes, challenges.

Holly has so many wonderful memories of her loving mother, which the author shares with the reader and I enjoyed reading each and every memory. At one point in the story, the author brought me to tears!

Make yourself a steaming cup of hot tea or chocolate, sit in a comfy chair and travel, once again, to Chilton Crosse!

A special and sincere thank-you to the author for providing me with a copy of her book in exchange for an honest review.

Another satisfying read by Traci Borum! Revisit Chilton Crosse; eat at Joe's Pub, stop by Noelle's art gallery, shop at Mrs. Pickering's market....It's such a pleasure to come back to this delightful village and catch up with old friends.
Holly, who we first meet in Painting the Moon, has been putting her dreams on hold for several years as she takes care of her father and sisters after the death of her mother. She knows that there is something more out there for her, but the opportunity just hasn't arrived. Then the unexpected happens with the arrival of a movie crew to film Emma by Jane Austen.
This is the 2nd book in a series, but you really don't have to read the first one to enjoy this one. It reminds me of the Mitford series by Jan Karon, where you grow to love a community and its townspeople as you read each book. It makes me want to travel to Chilton Crosse and visit all the neat places and see the lush landscape. If you are a fan of her first book, you'll appreciate getting some glimpses of Noelle and Adam several times in this book.
Holly is a very likable character and her dedication to her family is very touching. The romance is G rated and builds slowly, just as it would in a Jane Austen novel. Friendship comes first, which is always the foundation for great romances that last a lifetime. You happy endings fans will not be disappointed. *sigh* I can't wait to see who we get to learn more about in her 3rd book!!

I found myself at loose ends a couple days ago. I was home, sick with a cold and direly in need of distraction. I had purchased this book a few days before (on my Kindle), but honestly, had put off starting it. I loved the first Chilton Crosse book, would the second one disappoint?

To answer the question: I read it in one sitting. I couldn't stop.

Holly is a sweetheart who puts her family ahead of herself. Fletcher is a dashing, Southern gentleman who is only in town for a short time. I loved the story. But the ending!

Oh the ending lifted my heart and made me want to sing. I'd give this one six stars if I could!

To spend the day smiling, laughing and crying with them is a great way to spend the day!!! Traci Borum has her way with words. She is a master at putting together a sentence that delights all five senses! I am looking forward to her next book!

I definitely thought I was going to fall head over heals for this book…but that didn’t happen. But first, let’s get things straight…that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it. This book was an enjoyable contemporary, but with contemporary and romance being my go-to genre, this one just didn’t take the cake.

It was a very cute story and it ended how I thought it would (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing), but I wanted more. I didn’t really connect with the main characters, which was fairly disappointing. From the synopsis I thought I would love Holly. She seemed like such a loving character who would do anything for anyone…which in fact she was, but there was something about her (that I can not put my nose on) that just rubbed me the wrong way. I know it’s hard to say that in a review because you aren’t forewarning readers on what it might be, but hey, that happens to the best of us.

This book is a good read if you want something contemporary and some-what predictable…Like I said, it was a good book, but nothing to blow me out of the water.
