In one of the most exhilarating self help books available Apryl shares her own experiences at coping with a busy lifestyle and learning to enjoy every minute of her work as well as her outside of work activities, family, and ‘hobbies’. Her Introduction states her purpose of the book well – ‘It’s fitting that I finally felt compelled to write the first sentence of this book on a Saturday afternoon while simultaneously eating lunch, having a goofy conversation with my husband and children, sifting through a backlog of e-mails after a recent work trip, texting with a girlfriend about this afternoon’s play date, and trying to clean up the house. This is my life. It’s busy! It’s crazy! There are so many things to do, and it frequently feels as if there’s never enough time to get it all done. Once I conquer one challenge, more challenges arise. But you know what? I love it. Every single minute of it. I don’t know if I could say I loved it before now, though. I always used to feel overwhelmed, defeated, and exhausted from everything I had to do: raising a happy family, having a successful career and making good money, fitting in time for those I love, trying to find time to exercise and eat healthy, and making time for some plain old fun. I often went through the motions and spread myself too thin just to do it all, but despite the fact that I was accomplishing things, I didn’t feel like I was executing well. On the surface, I had a successful life, but more frequently than I desired, I still felt unhappy, unfulfilled, and stressed. Then, I made a huge life change because I was sick of sacrificing my happiness for all the “things” I had on my plate. I was sick of letting the never-ending checklist rule my life. I no longer wanted a “successful” life that someone else defined. It was time to take control and improve the quality of my life, while still getting it all done. Fast forward to the present: my life has completely changed for the better. I can confidently say that I am happier now than I have ever been. I can have the fun I want in my life and although I am still extremely busy, I am more productive than ever before. My friends feel like they can’t keep up with my whereabouts because I’m traveling so much, yet they are amazed I can still find time to give them love. I get to spend way more quality time with my family than I could before. I’m in the best physical shape of my life. I have a career I absolutely love. I have the confidence to go against the grain and try new things because I just don’t have anything to lose anymore.’
She fills this book with such information as her Tips for a Healthy Work-Life Balance (excellent – incorporate all of these!), and her advice on Fun As a Value, Health and Wellness, Money Management Strategies, Relationships, Personal Development
and finally her own journey to the Cheerful Mind.
Read this book and make some discoveries you may have thought you knew, but Apryl states it all so well that she provides countless ‘Aha!’ moments. Or as she says, ‘It’s time to stop letting society dictate what “success” means and start living the awesome life you have always wanted.’ Highly Recommended Grady Harp, April 17

Apryl’s communication and organizational skills are reflected in her writing. She is articulate and well organized in the structure and presentation of the material. The book is highly informative, well formatted and reader friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable read and reread often.
A complimentary copy of this book was provided for review purposes. The opinions expressed are my own.
The author, Apryl Schlueter, presents the information in a personal, unfiltered approach to how she has been able to design this in her life.
Using her own journey as a prime example, she is authentic and real about the struggle but encourages thoughtful reflection for you to create your desired balanced reality. She covers the critical areas of fun, health, money, relationships, personal development and your mindset.
As a coach, Apryl offers:
1) her story, life lessons and reflections as an illustration
2) perspective in how to look at these different areas of life
3) then ends each section by turning to you with questions and tips as you consider your own story and situation.
Her questions, thoughts and suggestions are helpful to assess and design this desired state of balance for your life.
She is direct yet helpful in her guidance to your own design identify, figure out, reflect, etc.
She has questions for you to answer and strategies for you to try all in the journey to your own evolution of balanced life and mind.
Apryl guides you though A LOT of information in a light-hearted but relevant way … it is a great place to start the process or reassess your internal/external space.
I rated a 4 star because personally I would find more questions and application helpful (vs. story), but the story offers a full life example and the book touches on many elements of life and balance which are helpful.
