This was a book of two halves for me. The first 60% I was convinced that I seriously disliked the heroine, was appalled at her actions and squirmed uncomfortably with faint disgust at what she was doing. I felt embarrassed and ashamed for her BUT, at just over the halfway point, everything that had been building finally clicked into place and the story turned a corner and became something that I was far more comfortable and at home with. Up until that point, I was definitely not going to read any sequel; now I definitely am.

This is the first part of the story that is Beth and Dominic. Beth is a small town girl who has come home from university to discover her long-time boyfriend and high school sweetheart doing the old horizontal shuffle with one of her friends. Heartbroken, she jumps at the opportunity to cat-sit for her Dad's wealthy Godmother in her luxury flat in Mayfair for a few weeks while she goes on a retreat.

Her living room windows look straight into the windows of the flat opposite where Beth spots her very handsome neighbour, Dominic. At this point the book started to feel very like the old Hitchcock movie Rear Window as Dominic's life is played out while Beth spies on him from her darkened living room. Dominic may share James Stewart's easy charm but Beth is most definitely lacking in Grace Kelly's understated elegance and dignity as she spies on her new neighbour and stalks him and his lady friend all the way to an underground BDSM club in Soho. At this point, I wanted to scream at Beth - `Play with fire and you will get burnt'! She sure wasn't listening.

This book I almost gave up on. The first 45% was in my eyes boring very very descriptive bah bah bah ( what I call filler) 3 pages to describe the flat REALLY. People who read erotic romance novels DO NOT CARE about the description of a room and the way the sunset looks. We care about BDSM Romance and SEX,SEX,SEX. When Dominic and Beth finally get together man this book got HOT,AMAZING AND EXPLOSIVE! The last 55% of the book was FANTASTIC. If the second book is as good as the second half of this book was I cannot wait to read it.

I read this in 2 days. Loved it too. I thought it was a mixture of fifty shades and bared to you. So if you liked those books, you will like this!

I saw a lot of references in the reviews to Bared to You, Fifty Shades but I can't agree. I don't feel this was anywhere close to those books in passion, story line, character development. I especially could not really get into Dominic's character. He wasn't described in a way where I felt he truly was handsome and loving. I found the whole story extremely slow in the beginning and in fact regretted buying the book at all but kept with it and about half way through it picked up. I also will admit I did buy the second book and will review that one as well when I finish it. I am no where near as enthralled and enraptured as I was with Fifty Shades or Bared to You but it has enough interest that I will continue to the next book.

Was very skeptical when I read the reviews on this book, but am I glad I bought it and the Secrets After Dark. The first book, Fire After Dark started a little slow, but when it started to get good, it really took off! Almost done with Secrets after Dark and can't wait for the final book Promises After Dark to come out in February. These two books are along the same lines as 50 Shades, and although 50 Shades will never be outdone, this series of books are definitely gripping once it gets going. If you can get through the first hundred pages in the first book, you will be hooked. Definitely hooked on this Trilogy, well done Sadie! These books are in the England setting, which is why it took a little bit of time to get into the storyline, worth the read though!

I really loved this story, specially because there is really a story and not just sex. The characters are well described as well as the places, that let me knew something about London, and that' s nice!. The story is very well told and includes some intrigue about Dominic that left me waiting for more in the next book. I liked the way Beth is helped by her employer and the changes that the relationship with Dominic also changed her style and personality ( resembling Christian and Anastasia story). I' m waiting for more!!!

About 70 percent too much detail and 60 percent not enough relationship. Also punishment for the male is really a turn off for me. I am trying to find how to return the book for credit and I've never done that.

Skeptical about these claims that "Fire After Dark" is for the Fifty fans? Actually, it is -- and it's not bad. The over-achiever reviewers have taken care of the plot points and I am just here to support their five stars. This book is only available from booksellers in paperback format. Who knows why? I waited a full week for my copy, but it was worth the wait. Happily, there are two more books in the series.
