Michael's character is such that when he is framed for crimes he allegedly committed, the determined manner in which he desperately tries to extricate himself from Viper's web of lies leaves the reader cheering him on while even some who are closest to him struggle with doubts about his innocence. The fear that the lure of managing his predicament with his old "friend" alcohol takes a bad situation the next level when Eva wonders if Viper will win out over Michael's fragile sobriety and shove him back into the bottle. Eva facing some of her own issues yet wanting to be solidly behind Michael, turns to Casey, his brother, and his Mom for some support of her own.
A gripping climax leads to an explosive finale and the reader will find him/herself hurrying to see who wins in the last pages of this story. A great read for those who have enjoyed Tate's other Heroes' stories, I found myself reluctant to finally get to the end. It's really a face paced book and for this reader one I hope will have yet another tale to come. Looking forward to the family interactions to follow and resolutions to issues left not quite completed. Loving a good cliff hanger is part of loving the Troubled Heroes Series! Job well done J.R. Tate!
**disclosure** I read this as it was being written.
Thank you AGAIN J.R. Tate for a great few days of reading :) I am looking forward to next.. :)
