About the Author

MJ Nightingale has been a teacher for over two decades. She graduated from University in Canada with a Bachelors of Arts degree majoring in English, and honoring in American History. She went on to get her Bachelors of Education Degree in Secondary Education. Reading has been a part of her life since she was a child. She has been an avid lover of classical English and American literature, but romance has always held a special place in her heart. She devours romance novels all summer long, and any type of fiction; thrillers, crime, suspense, and drama. She has published poetry, lyrics for song scores and short stories under a different name. She has taught Creative Writing to high school students for over fifteen years, several who have gone on to publish works of their own. She currently lives in Florida, where she continues to teach, with her wonderful husband of eight years, and her twin sons. First, I want to say it was a very good book, a bit too angsty for my taste, but that's on me. It was also very well written and kept you interested. That's why I gave it four stars. *Spoilers* The parts I had trouble with are I felt the fact that she had been raped at seventeen was completely unnecessary. It added nothing to the story. Her weight issues could have gone from a number of other reasons. I could see maybe if Victor was the first sexual relationship she had after that, but he wasn't. She already had a friends with benefits that helped her get over her sex issues. Then, we don't even get to see Monica confide it to Victor. It's just mentioned in passing that she told him and that he was outraged for her and then it's never mentioned again. I don't get the whole point of it.
My other huge problem was the complete overuse of their names. Every comment to each other either begins or ends with "Monica" or "Victor". I never read two characters use the others names so much. Whatever the word count of this book is, cut it in half because the other half is their names. Drove me crazy.
Also, Victor really was a jerk. He was only using Monica until his wife took him back! He knew she was in love with him and he was just going to keep her hanging on til it was time to dump her. He knew what he was doing was wrong yet he did it anyway, for far too long in my opinion. It really did make me like him a lot less in the end.

A book about two people facing down their demons, and falling in love along the way. Monica has just recently dealt with her demons and is starting to live her life. Out with her sister, she meets Victor, a gorgeously handsome Alpha male who rocks her socks. And she rocks his, too. However, Victor is still dealing with his demons. He's upfront and tells her there are no promises but that doesn't stop their desire for one another. As their relationship grows and he lets her inside, we see some of his demons and how a previous love has damaged him. Can he move on and choose her over his demons or will he choose to continue to torture himself. Can she be strong enough for both of them?

I liked that Monica was already healed at the beginning of the book. She had a life of her own outside their relationship that gave her strength and purpose beyond their love. That allowed her to be strong when she needed to be and supportive when he needed it. It allowed a her feelings to ring true. She didn't need him in her life--she wanted him, which is very different. Victor's character can be polarizing. The author's ability to make us love his tortured soul first allows you the time to listen to his backstory. His determination to do the right thing and to be a good man have you rooting for his happiness.

As her debut novel, there were a few editing errors I would have liked to see cleaned up, but the story line had a good flow that showed both characters' internal conflict and passion. The decision to pace this out over several months did the story justice as it felt more natural. Even if they did fall in bed with lust at first sight. Lots of hot steamy sex scenes, including a wild out of town weekend. The novel ends on a HEA and did have me crying at parts.

What a ride from the author! I never knew where this story was going to take me. I even thought at one place that I didn’t like the hero (seemed like a jerk) or the heroine (seemed weak) and I wanted to toss my kindle. But I couldn’t put it down! That’s when I realized what a great job the author was doing- It was not a simple, fluffy love story, filled with vanilla sex and the typical romance. Both Victor and Monica have deep seeded issues of trust, hurt, and fears. As a single, 30 year old, she should have had her eyes open more to what possible reasons Victor may have had when keeping her separated from his life. Victor should have realized that what he wanted was never going to work. Their relationship was complicated and the story takes the reader through Monica’s mind as she is maneuvering her way through the very murky waters! Part of me wanted their story to be fluff because there was a lot of emotion in this book. Both made mistakes. Both made assumptions. Both made poor choices. But ultimately, they did get their HEA. MJ wrote a story that definitely pulls you along because you keep reading to the very end wanting to find out what happens. So while the story made me crazy as I was reading it – I did not want to put it down!

I fell in love with this book as soon as I stared reading it. This book was so good I was up half the night read it . I could put this book down at all for the life of me. This book is full of raw emotions that played with my heart string a few times. This book has one smoking hot man in it that will have you needing to change your underwear by the time your done reading this book. The sexual chemistry in tis book should come with a warning label because its that sizzling hot.

Two broken souls find each other when one night when either where looking for any thing . But can they fix each other broken hearts and past or will it be to much for them. Monica sister talk her into going out one night just to have one night of fun But the last thing Monica is looking for is a tall sexy has hell man. But after one look, dance and one sizzling hot kiss Monica is hook .

Victor is not looking for any thing other than a one night stands. But what he does not know is that every thing is going to change. Because after he see Monica and he has one dance and kiss he can't get her out of his mind. But after one sexual smoking hot night with her he try to warn her not to fall in love with him.

I did not want to give to much away in this book because its to sizzling hot not to read . I cant wait to read more from this author. All I can say is this book is WOW , WOW , SIZZLING HOT .

I saw an excerpt on Facebook, and that was me hooked. After a quick message to the author needing to know how long I would have to wait before I got to read it, I found I was soon counting down the days!

I have to say the rest of the book DID NOT DISAPPOINT! WOW, it was hot! It was moving! It was riviting! It was passionate! Did I mention HOT? Holy melting knickers...

Right from the start, I was hooked. I didn't want it to end, but I couldn't put it down at the same time.

Monica is still dealing with a horrific event that happened to her years before. Her sister, Ana, is worried that she is starting to slip back into her old reclusive ways, so takes action and drags her out for a night of flirty fun. That was the night she met Victor. He shocked her with his forward nature, but she also found herself turned on by it. I have to say, she wasn't alone!!

When they go out for their first date, Victor is straight with Monica about just what he can and can't/won't offer her. She thinks she can handle his terms, but soon realises that she is out of her depth. Victor is hiding secrets, but she doesn't have any idea what they could be. She doesn't push him in the hope that he will trust her eventually and let her in. He doesn't...

Although their relationship does develop in other ways, there is always a piece of him that Victor holds back. Over time, her sister becomes suspicious and makes Monica ask Victor the questions she has been avoiding. The answers she gets rip her heart out. And mine...

Victor isn't a bad guy, he is trying to deal with things the best way he knows how. He is trying to do the best for his loved ones, but at the same time he is risking his own peace of mind and happiness. He cannot see how his actions are not just making him miserable, but also those that he is intent on protecting also.

I loved how even though I had a fair idea of what Victor was hiding, seeing everything play out and unravel was what kept me riveted. But I could never have imagined the lengths Victor was prepared to go to. He has a sense of loyalty, no matter how screwed up, that you can't help but admire.

There was not one part of this book that I thought was slow. The flow of the storyline was consistent, always making me want to know more, always making me want to turn the page to see what else was uncovered. The different sides to Victor's nature, the developing inner strength of Monica, they all had me glued.

This is M.J. Nightingale's debut novel and on the basis of this book, I will be looking forward to all her other future projects.

Started this book when i went to bed, put it down at midnight then woke early and finished it off, what a book. Both characters have issues especially Victor, he wanted to do right by family, but he also wanted his happily after, im not going to go in to great detail, you need to read this book you will not be disapointed. My heart broke in some places and i had my tissues out. My glasses were also a bit steamy as well in lots of places the sex was truly off the scale, we all need a Victor. He was made to feel pervy because of his preferences, hey we all like a bit of perv if Victor is dishing it out lol, anyway read and enjoy this book, well done MJ Nightingale you have made us proud with this book, the wait was worth it.
