Onto the book - it's exactly the right ending for this series. Bethany Frenette clearly knew what she wanted to do, even the tough and messy parts, and went with it. Audrey's POV is strong and she's someone whose head I don't mind seeing the story from, which can't always be said in YA. I liked seeing the developments in her relationship with Leon, and as an older reader of YA I love how Lucy is written - she's a little messy, but she's very real and there's a true give and take in her relationship with Audrey. Too many books for this age have parents that are either too-good-to-believe saints, or irrational monsters who Just Don't Understand.
So while I'm not happy how Hyperion handled this, I'm still very, very glad to have read this series and Fire Fall in particular. It's one of the stronger series I've read in a while and a little different than most other series that it could be compared to.
The main character Audrey is awesome, I love her amplifying power and the fact that through amplifying she could use other peoples powers. She made a few mistakes through the series but she always fessed up and did her best to make up for it.
Leon, the love interest and Audrey's guardian is a dream. I really like the nerdy yet secretly strong type. *fans self* His main power is teleportation, I've always dreamed of having that power.
If your debating on the series, I really recommend it. I really enjoyed the super hero type powers as well as the plot.
