Like the previous books in this series, there is a mixture of humor, passion, and some odd and wonderful characters. The plot is good, although I didn't like it as much as the three previous books. Ms. Seed is able to write dialogue that is both witty and believable and her character are second to none. This is a good wrap up to the series and I look forward to her next books.
Language and sexual situations may offend some readers.
The heroine is a barista on Main Street. Her gal friends come in each day for their caffine fix and to catch up and keep up with their lives. All are happily married or in a relationship except the heroine. She is approaching 30, she wants a home, a family, a loving and passionate husband. She feels her chances of getting all of that are shrinking every day so she decides to settle with the guy she is currently dating. All her friends advise her to dump him, he is not for her. She can check off all his good points, one fly in the ointment, there is no love or passion on her part plus the guy is just an *ss. But she is thinking that if not him, then her chance of being a wife and mother may pass her up so she agrees to marry him.
Her mother is one for the books. I wanted to slap this woman up side the head with a bat. OMG, I would have tossed her off a cliff. She wants her daughter married to a 401K, a bank account, a good job, etc. and the fact that she doesn't love him is not a problem. OH BUT IT IS. On a trip to Vegas with all her friends the fiance shows his true colors and she knows she cannot go through with it. Now to break it off. It is funny how she chooses to do that. The book has a lot of humor as the women get together to discuss every issue and event and the men get together to figure out a way to get them out of the current event. It is so true to life. Her group of friends have all different personalities but they are good friends and they look out for each other.
I loved her Dad. He was such a sweet, loving character. Of course, "Z" stole the story. You have to love him. I once had a dog that most thought was ugly. He was the sweetest dog and I loved him. So, I connected to Z. The story is a lot of fun as these two work toward finding their HEA. It is a very entertaining read and I definitely recommend it. There were a few HOT sex scenes so be advise if that is an issue for you.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 4?7/18
The only thing I didn’t like was how the FMC’s mother never really apologized to Lacy for her behavior. It was implied, I guess, but, it’s a small plot-thread hanging. And the hero had to show her *spreadsheets* of him income! Who makes their daughters boyfriend do that? (Okay, he did it voluntarily, but still).
As I've said in my other reviews, if you want to take a quick escape to the Central Coast, these are the stories that will transport you there.
