The book is very colorful and the story is simple: a little bird hates the rain and thinks that the sun has gone away forever -- until he flies up through the clouds and sees the sun is always there, too bright and real to be blocked out by a storm. This is a sweet analogy of believing in God's constant love through the difficult times in our lives. This picture book is best read aloud with a southern accent, after also seeing the movie, Unconditional. (In the movie, the main character is an aspiring author in Nashville who tells this story and hopes to get it published. It was a creative idea to actually publish a version of the book for people to read after the movie. But this is a good book for anyone, whether or not you've seen the movie.)

Firebird is such a cute story about a little bird who lives for the sunshine. I LOVE the storyline and the illustrations are top notch. I can't wait to share this with any little ones that come into our home.

It takes a special talent to be able to share God's love and mercy in such a way that it can touch a child's heart, and Firebird does just that.

I am one of those who fell in love with this book way before I ever saw it, while watching the movie “Unconditional,” an amazing and truly beautiful movie, directed by one of the authors of this book, Brent McCorkle.

This is a book about God’s unconditional love and believing that there is good (and beautiful sunshine), even when things seem bad (or dreary from too much rain). Believe and work hard for something and you can obtain it. It’s a beautiful book about “flying through” the problems and there will be good on the other side and how one should not give up. I was so happy, when I came across this book here on Amazon. I knew it was just a matter of time before I gave in and purchased this board book.

I bought this book to share with an almost 6-year-old great nephew, a 3-year-old grandson, and a 2-year-old granddaughter. It is perfect for the almost 6-year-old. He is able to listen to all the words and see the pictures and even wanted me to read it again right after I finished reading it. For the 3-year-old, I condensed it a bit, reading or telling him one line on each page and that was just right for him. For the 2-year-old, we just look through the pictures and show her who Firebird is and who the Mom is and that is perfect for her.

I’m very happy with my purchase of this book and would definitely purchase it again, as a gift. The movie “Unconditional” is just wonderful and we love this book that stemmed from the movie.

This is an adorable book! It is filled with colorful illustrations and has a great message! I highly recommend it for a wide range of children. It is not too wordy but does have a deep message. The price was great and it's a pretty substantial book as well which would make for a great birthday gift or baby shower gift.

This has got to be my favorite children's book. A baby bird gets depressed every time it rains and asks his mom why God takes the sun away. One day after a long flight through the stormy clouds, he finds out the truth. The artwork throughout the book is beautiful, and is what earns this book 5 stars.

Received it as a gift from my daughter, the message is so sweet, and the illustrations are beautiful! She knew I loved the movie Unconditional, and I had no idea that there was a book available! I have already used it to read to a sad child, the message is universally comforting. Great gift!

Loved the movie, Unconditional, so I decided to purchase this book. The story was short, but powerful. I bought the book for myself, but my niece asked if she could have it. Looks like I may be purchasing another...
