Jude Gallagher has been teetering on the edge of sanity for years. She was convinced in third grade that the new neighbor boy could make her hear music in her head all the time. The torture continued for four long years until the day he moved away taking the music with him, but not the memory -- or the feeling of being crazy. Now seventeen, Jude is talked in to doing a science project on Vatru u Kvri, or Firebloods -- a mythical race of winged people whom have been injected with the blood of the rare Phoenix. Her friend and science partner, Frankie, is convinced through research that they can prove the Firebloods existence. But as the summer continues, her only solid proof may be that she's crazy afterall. With a unique twist on mythical lore, Casey Hays breathes refreshing new life into the paranormal world. Written with immense descriptive detail and a mesmerizing storyline, FIREBLOODS is a suspenseful supernatural that will leave young adult fans begging for more!
~ I was given an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
It's quite an interesting concept (one I've never read) and one where even at 40% I was sitting there thinking, where is this going? Which is usually not the case with me.
I wasn't aware it was a love story when I started reading, it's not usually my thing, but this kind of love, rooted in friendship I adore. No sappy insta-love here.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because there were a ton of overused gestures. Biting and licking of lips being the main one and it kinda started to drive me crazy. I'm the type of person that gets jolted out of the story if I notice things like that.
In any event, this is definitely added to my list of stories that will bring me back for the sequels.
Kane loves Jude and it takes a while for her to see the strength of their connection. Her father was killed four or five years ago, and she has yet to grieve. Her mother never got over it. Things heat up when they all go on a camping trip, less Devon, to see if they find evidence of firebloods. What happens will astound you.
Who can be trusted?? Who is the fireblood on the tape? Read to find out.
Read on my friends
I found this book very interesting and fascinating. The more I read the more I wanted. I found myself trying to guess what would happen next. The sheer concept of a race of people called Firebloods takes ones imagination to levels I never entertained. You don't need to be a young adult to enjoy this amazing tale....i recommend this curious read to everyone!
Anyway, awesome read that keeps you turning the pages!
When Frankie and Jude do a scholarship project based on the Phoenix the girls have to prove a race known as the Firebloods walk the earth. How can you prove the Firebloods exists while keeping the secret of someone you love? Jude is put in a horrible delima.
This is an outstanding reading with likable characters. You'll find yourself cheering for Jude and Kane.
