Their 1976 debut boasted the hit You Are the Woman , and introduced their easy country rock sound.

I previewed the Greatest Hits CD at a local store, and ya know what? The first 6 tracks were all from this CD, Firefall's first. I didn't really care for much of the rest of the Greatest Hits. So many greatest hits compilations are filled with stuff I just don't want. I'll sacrifice having 20 tracks for a more limited number, like on this CD ... because it makes the CD a "play through," there's just nothing I have to skip!

I recently acquired Firefalls " Greatest Hits " C D and so enjoyed the listen, that I decided to give all my Vinyl records of Firefall a listen again. This , their first album , brought together a group of excellent Country Rockers that sing great harmonies and play a mixture of country rock, soft and occasional hard rock - and they did it so well! I must say I`m surprised at the fact that only one Larry Burnett track made it onto their " Greatest Hits " C D , as there is a bunch of good songs by him on this album. LOVE ISNT ALL a strong ballad,NO WAY OUT a great rocker and a magnificent song CINDERELLA (which is on the Greatest Hits C D ) which has a great harmonica intro.Rick Roberts songs IT DOESNT MATTER ,LIVIN AINT LIVIN, YOU ARE THE WOMAN and MEXICO are all good tracks. In fact there are only two mediocre tracks. Looking at the composers it would appear that Stephen Stills ( Crosby Stills and Nash ) worked together with Rick Roberts a lot.I got a real warm feeling listening to this album.

Simply an outstanding CD. Sounds just as great today as when it first came out almost 30 years ago. I hate categories and comparisons in music; how do you compare Mozart and Hendrix? You either like it or you don't. Without comparing, I will say early Firefall is comparable in style to early Eagles, i.e. a slight country flair to rock songs, with great, smooth vocals and absolutely killer guitar licks. Rockin' Bread songs are also a good comparison. If you've never heard this album, you owe it to yourself to check it out. While their other albums have some great moments, none ever came close to this in my opinion for consistency and overall strength. Definitely a top 50 of all time rock albums.

This is, by far, Firefall's best work. It contains the AC staple, You are the Woman, which is probably the worst song on the disc. The group does a great cover of Steve Still's It Doesn't Matter, Livin ain't Livin and Mexico are also outstanding. This is an outstanding album!

I am an original fan of Firefall from its first album "Firefall" in those days you could only by 8 track or Vinyl records. I lost all my vinyl collection in a fire back in '82. Now thank God for downloads you don't have to buy the entire album just download your favorite. Of all the albums this was tops and so I purchases 1-2-6-7-8-9 and 10. At $6.93 it was great! This to me was a classic album!!

Superlative country rock album by the most ridiculously all-around talented rock band other than the Eagles (I would love to include Mahavishnu and Allmans in that list, but those instrumental genius lineups did not have multiple singer-songwrtiters in their ranks). Both this and the follow-up Luna Sea are near darn perfect albums. Singer Rick Roberts's genius shines in "Living ain't Living," "Dolphins's Lullaby," and "Mexico" alongside the radio staple "You are the Woman." Larry Burnett's genius has been ignored even more than the leader's, but his non-blues rock songs are achingly wistful--"Love Isn't All" and "Sad Ol' Love Song" are both beautiful and his "Cinderella" remains part of the '70s soundtrack. Stephen Stills and Chris Hillman's "It Doesn't Matter" receives its best treatment of all time, and that's saying something. Jock Bartley, ex-Gram Parsons Fallen Angels Band, came into his own with this album as one of the greatest melodic rock guitarists of all time (only matched by Duane Allman, Carlos Santana, and Don Felder)--his Les Paul literally talks, moans, wails, growls. Mark Andes's (ex-Spirit) bass almost has a substance you can feel in three dimensions and his melodic fills are perfectly chosen. Reeds player, keyboardist, multi-instrumentalist David Muse's constitutions provide the perfect spatial backdrops and the drummer is the Byrds' Michael Clarke (also ex-Dillard and Clark and ex-Flying Burrito Brothers). Sounds of perfection from one of the greatest collections of talent in one place. No it is not timeless--this will definitely take you back to Boulder in the Seventies, the only time and place I want to live.

This is Firefall's first and best album. I love their music. I was in high school when this album came out, but their music is timeless and my kids who are in their twenties love it too. Firefall was and still is a "sleeper" band, meaning they never got the recognition they deserve, but everyone who knows their music loves it. Give this to your girlfriend or wife with "You are the woman" highlighted and you're golden!

As a teenager in the '70's, you picked and chose your albums - often it was what everyone was listening to. The big single off this album, "You Are The Woman", was not what drew me to the album. It was the downbeat and haunting "Cinderella" - also a hit in it's own right. However, once I bought the album, I played the hell out of it. There really isn't a stinker or throw-away in the bunch. Firefall never really achieved this level of perfection again with subsequent albums. But I can still remember playing this one repeatedly.

While I still have that album stored away, it's likely marred by pops and scratches at this point. Great to have the clean digital version. Well worth the price.
