Hit your target in the darkest of nights with Fire field night vision. The NVRS 3x42 Night Vision Riflescope is engineered with a built-in, high power IR illuminator that enhances image details and increases viewing range in total darkness. Its quick-detach weaver mounting system makes it easy to change optics or switch to iron sights and still maintain return-to-zero reliability. Featuring a 42mm lens for higher light gathering capabilities and a powerful 3x magnification, the NVRS 3x42 offers a clear picture of medium- to long-range targets. Its rock-solid, lightweight titanium body and flip-up lens covers shield it from impact and harsh weather conditions. The flip-up lens covers open to reveal enhanced, multi-coated optics and an illuminated red duplex reticle with incremental brightness adjustment, allowing the shooter to quickly adapt to their surrounding environment.

Common sense placement of adjustments
Reticle brightness intensity adjustable
AA battery makes it easy to replace
Easy on off
IR attachment is a nice touch (especially on a budget NVRS)
A lot of black dots in the tube (see pictures)
Outdoor use only it appears...inside environment is too reflective and all the black dots show up
IR effective range is MAYBE 50 yards. Past that it won't help much.
My takeaway with this NVRS is that you get what you pay for. Although with this you get a little more than you pay for. A functional Gen1 NVRS that won't break the bank. If you want ultra clarity, long range, and perfectly machined night vision you'll have to pay for it (upwards of 3k). If you want an effective NVRS (night vision rifle scope) out to 100 yards this is a perfect fit. Plus, Amazon warehouse had them listed for around 270 last time I looked. Can't beat that. I hope this helps.
P.S. I need to figure out how to add pictures (this is one of very few reviews I've ever done)
Do read the instructions at least twice before ever removing the scope from its case. This scope is very rugged and well built but some of the components can be easily damaged by just a few seconds of sunlight, so read the instructions and make sure you understand them.
Don't use it in the daylight, there is a reason it is called Night Vision. It does have a cap for daylight use but clarity is marginal at best through the cap. The cap is more for use at twilight.
I have spent more money for optics and gotten way less than with this scope. For a .223/5.56 or the 300 BLK this scope will do all you need it to do. I have no problem seeing a 3 inch black bulls eye at 100 yards with the 3x magnification. Just make sure the target that you use is black when you are zeroing it or target shooting, as black will show up the best. Forget using any target that is of a shade of red. It will be hard if not impossible to see in the scope because it will not reflect back the IR light like other colours will. Keep these few things in mind and you should enjoy your scope tremendously. I know I do.
The only problem it had was due to the mount it's not very stable it snugs a little forward or back depending how you move it. As well as the little handle it uses to grip on picture 3 it looses up at times and can cause your scope to fall. Buuut you can tighten it up, I'll let you figure that one out. Other than that everything on the scope is great.
I have it mounted on my AR DPMS .223 with a light/laser combo attachment that I recommend to have for hunting at night. Like I said with the light you can see much farther with the NVRS scope. How far? Farther than what your eyes can see with the flashlight itself. Lets say the flashlight reaches 200 yards, then you use the night vision scope you will see at least another 75 yards.
Quick tip: It always helps to have extra light (spot light) when your out hunting at night you can see much father than you can imagine 300+ yards with the scope. Use a distress call to call in your coyotes.
HOWEVER- The quick detach is HORRIBLE. I mean just so, so bad. It detaches with the slightest bump.mi knocked this scope off my gun three times. I am, however, happy to report that it held zero after striking the ground three times.
