About the Author

In the spring of 2013, Jillian Jacobs changed her career path and became a romance writer. After years of reading, she figured writing a romance would be quick and easy. Nope! With the guidance of the Indiana Romance Writers of America chapter, she has learned there are many "rules" to writing a proper romance. Being re-schooled has been an interesting journey, and she hopes the best trails are yet to be traveled. You'll find a bit of her husband in her paranormal series, The Elementals, as he's a chemist and has to answer all her, "Could this really happen?" questions. Water’s Threshold, the first in her Elementals series, was a finalist in Chicago-North’s 2014 Fire and Ice contest in the Women’s Fiction category. Three things about Jillian: She’s a Tea Guzzler, Polish Pottery Hoarder, and lover of all things Moose. Her current positions with Indiana Romance Writers of America are Program Chair and 2015 Conference Co-Chair. She is also the 2015 One The Far Side Contest coordinator for the RWA Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal online chapter. The genres she writes under are: Paranormal and Contemporary Romance with suspenseful elements. Violet is the twenty-fifth daughter in the line of witches, prophesized to eventually stop the darkest of all villains—Quint, the personification of Dark Matter. After her mother got addicted to the high feeling magic brought and then the high from substances of any kind, Violet swore off magic and dove into science. But determination alone can’t stop her ancestor’s spell and the destiny she’s meant for. Fortunately Violet has more than determination—she has Flint, the Fire Elemental on her side. And he isn’t about to let a little thing like destiny take away what’s his, even if it means staring Death straight in the face.

Fire’s Field is a paranormal romance by Jillian Jacobs set in a unique paranormal world where Elementals protect the world and their elements for Mother Nature. Unlike many books with elemental magic, Ms. Jacobs’s universe only has one “peri-mortal” figure responsible for each element. These elementals are kind of like the North Wind—the personification of the element—except the position is one that changes over time when one elemental falls or decides to retire.

This story features Flint, a guy made of pure fire who recharges his mojo (life force) in active volcanoes. But he wasn’t always supernatural. Once he was a blacksmith’s son. Unlike him, Violet has always been supernatural. Her power is over the spectrum, with the ability to harness radiation and microwaves…all harmful stuff to humans. And definitely harmful to evil baddie Quint and all of the “seeds” he’s planted in minions across the globe. They all want Violet because Quint needs a vessel and no one else is powerful enough to host him.

This is a story about the elements: water, fire, air and earth, and Jillian brings these elements to life with characters who each embody one of the elements and their battle to contain the evil dark matter character. This may sound way too scientific, but it definitely is not. There is romance, suspense, betrayal, intrigue, it's action packed and kept me guessing until the climatic ending.

I love the way Jillian's characters are dedicated to each other and their joint effort to defeat evil Quint, who uses dark matter to try to conquer the world. Flint, whose life source is "fire" falls in love with Violet, who has electromagnetic powers and thinks she alone has to defeat Quint. But, as the drama plays out Flint must show Violet how to love and accept that she needs him as much as he needs her.

Fire’s Field is the second book in The Elementals Series by Jillian Jacobs. The book can be considered as standalone but there are some references to the first book that new readers might not understand well. If you haven’t read the first book, Water’s Threshold, I suggest you read it first to make reading Fire’s Field more enjoyable.

Fire’s Field features the love story of Flint and Violet. They were both introduced in the first book of the series, Water’s Threshold. Flint is the fire elemental who, together with earth, wind, water, and Mother Nature protects the world from destruction. In the book he was portrayed as a happy go lucky guy flirting his way from one girl to another. That is, until he met Violet. The moment he sees violet he knew that she’s different and that she might just be the one for him. Violet is a witch, and a cursed one, at that. The 25th daughter in the line of witches, she was destined to stop Quint, the dark matter incarnate and the main antagonist in the series. Knowing her fate, she dedicated her life to science and shunned human relationships because she believed that her life is fleeting and she won’t survive the battle ahead. Will Flint be able to pass through Violet’s defenses and show her that her true destiny is with him? And that love can change her fate? Read the book to find out!

I love paranormal romance mixed with science. Jillian Jacobs made an awesome job mixing the two in this series. I really enjoyed the bits and pieces of science facts and trivia that goes out of Violet’s mouth when she’s nervous. What can I say? I’m a trivia geek myself. :D One more thing I loved about this series is the idea of peri-mortals. The elementals are not true immortals. They can be killed but they can live for eternity.

Fantastic and fast paced Paranormal Romance!!

I love everything involving Mother Nature and the Elements, and Fire is my favorite one, so this book is for me a winner.

Flint, representing Fire, and Violet, enchanted with the power of the Electromagnetic spectrum, are that, a full of energy, light, heat, chemistry and explosive couple, embarked together in a journey against a dark and evil enemy, who is Violet's destiny to destroy or be destroyed by him. But that's not her only problem, our hot Flint is trying, by all means, to sparkle her heart with love, will she let her barriers down and allow romance in her life? Love conquers all, doesn't it?
The story is full of magic, love, betrayal, good - evil fights, action, great dialogues, complex characters, funny moments and a lot of heat!!

Highly recommended to Paranormal/Romance/Sci Fi readers.
