As a Catholic Priest, I work with people in many settings and I have been using some of these meditations...This is probably the greatest gift one could give to oneself.

About the Author

AWARD WINNING AUTHOR, Bohdi Sanders is a lifelong student of wisdom literature and the martial arts. He has dedicated his life to educating others, both in the classroom and the martial arts arena. During his 20 years as a school teacher and coach, he has always strived to teach his students, not only the core subjects, but also the character traits and virtues which he has discovered in his quest to discover the truth behind the ancient wisdom texts from around the world.

His studies led him to explore the wisdom behind natural health, naturopathy, herbs, and the power of the mind to heal the body and make positive changes in one's life. These explorations led to his earning both a doctorate in naturopathy and a doctorate in natural health, while at the same time maintaining his interest in the martial arts and education.

Dr. Sanders is also a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, a Certified Specialist in Martial Arts Conditioning, a Certified Reiki Master, and a Certified Master of G-Jo Acupressure. He currently holds a black belt in Shotokan Karate and has studied various other martial arts over the years. He has worked with young people for over 20 years and is endorsed to teach in four different subject areas and has coached martial arts, soccer, football, and softball.

My husband liked it, it was a Christmas gift that he asked for. so he was happy to receive it.
This is an update: My husband recently completed reading Secrets of the Soul by Bohdi Sanders, PhD. He stated "That no words can describe the author and his attributes. Bohdi delves into the hidden crevices of your mind, sharing his wisdom. He fills the cavities of your brain with new found knowledge. Without a doubt this book spans the unlimited resources of the soul and forwards the positive energies needed for your existence."

Have you sometimes asked yourself the question “Who am I ?” The question is easy enough to ask but the answer may not be immediately apparent to you. Secrets of the Soul differs from other books on this subject in that it does not preach to the reader. On the contrary, the reader is met with an abundance of fascinating questions and is then left to ponder of them and come to his/her own conclusions. This, in my opinion, is the factor that makes Secrets of the Soul stand out from all of the other books which delve into the subject of self knowledge. Dr Sanders does not attempt to influence the reader in any way. He simply asked the questions that need to be asked. You will sometimes answer one of the questions in the book without any undue problems, other questions however, will leave you thinking about them for hours maybe even days later. Knowing yourself is ultimately about knowing what your beliefs are and in turn, identifying what you do not believe in. On closing, let me quote Dr Sanders himself, what better way to describe the nature of this eye opening book than by using the words of the author: “Refusing to choose is a choice; disbelief is a belief.”

This book is not for those meek and fearful individuals who do not want to face who they really are. This is more of a work book for those with courage enough to face their own inner souls. You will have to be honest with yourself as you attempt to answer questions which you may have avoided all your life. In this respect, it is a self-healing book in which you will discover your true self. It is a book that forces you to think honestly about what is deep inside your soul.

The text is organized into several sections. Do not pass up the introduction because it explains the approach and purpose of this book. It also covers how to get the most out of this book. If you are honest with yourself you will discover the following: What your personal philosophy of life is, what your character traits and values are, how you view money and success, what your political philosophy is, how spiritual and religious you are, what your metaphysical view is of the world, and numerous other important aspects of your life.

Each section asks various questions and challenges you to answer them honestly. Each page also has a meaningful quote to help inspire you as you attempt to work through the questions.

In conclusion, if you desire to discover your true inner philosophy, personality and soul, this is a must book for you.

I have Dr. Sanders Warrior Wisdom 1 & 2 and thought this would be similar. Wrong, this is a book that gives you the questions to your answers. It is, as it says, a book of meditation. The last saying in the book will put this book into perspective for you.
"Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is enlightenment", Lao Tzu.

This book is more about exploring yourself and what makes you tick than it is about the sayings in the book. However, the sayings are placed in such a way that gives you either more food for thought or clarification of what the author is trying to convey.

A dear friend of mine suggested I read this book and I am very grateful to her for it. This is not your usual self-help book, it's a totally different way of approaching awareness...very thought provoking. You'll read it once through quickly and then allow yourself the pleasure of slowly taking it a chapter at a time. I highly recommend it to anybody who has ever wondered...about anything!

Secrets of the Soul is really cool and a lot of fun too. It's like falling down a rabbit hole and finding your true self looking back at you through a mirror..very, very cool experience to read through this book...a lot of fun to read. really takes you on a journey through yourself and encourages people to think for themselves which is much needed... Also great for couples or groups of friends to use for a fun conversation starter. You can open at random and discuss whatever topic you flip to, see where everyone stands with that topic and get to know one another and have fun...If your looking to give someone a great gift THIS IS IT !!! I was given this book as a gift and I'm thrilled with it .. so much fun !!!

I honestly believe that today a lot of people find themselves in a lot of unhappiness because they do not have a chance to think correctly about themselves, life and the world. Philosophy is a great tool but we have taken it away and now everything is based on "what I think" or "what I feel."

Self-awareness is the beginning of a life lived as a whole. But where to start? How to do it?

When I opened the book and scanned the Table of Content, I was very surprised about this book. You can take a look it yourself, so I won't go into details.

I read the book in almost one sitting. However, I realized that it was not the right way to use this book. So I began to use it for me daily meditation, as a starting point for my Journal entries, etc. As a Catholic Priest, I work with people in many settings and I have been using some of these meditations. I used it with some couples, asking them to dialogue with each other about the topic after having spent some time thinking about the issue.

I believe this book can be used like a Workbook for a Life-Awareness series, or something. It is truly needed - a valuable tool that makes people reflect on their own values. This is probably the greatest gift one could give to oneself.
