I put these on my 2009 GMC 2500HD diesel four door truck to haul our 5th wheel with, as well as flat tow a jeep behind the fifth wheel. I was having problems with my trailer bucking and jerking and had taken other steps to smooth it out. These air bags not only stabilized the truck better and gave it a better ride, they also stabilized the trailer and took 90% of the bucking and jerking motion out of the trailer.

One thing I did do that does not come with the kit is put a T-fitting on the air line so I only have one air fitting and the bags stay at the exact same pressure.

Recently had the Firestone 2250 installed on a Chevy 2010 2500HD Duramax crew cab that is used to pull a Montana Mountaineer fifth wheel. With the new trailer weighing more than the older one we thought we needed some extra lift since the hitch mount weight on this fifth wheel is 2,200 lbs before you add weight to the cargo compartment etc.

The Firestone airbags we bought were the manual add air since the automatic air compressor doubled the price. So it is easy to manually add the air and one interesting thing we discovered and discusssed with the factory tech rep was the air pressure. We had put 40 lbs in the bags and then when we dropped the fifth wheel on the hitch we checked the air pressure once again. It was almost 60lbs which would give us 3,000 lbs of lift and looked way to high. The factory tech rep said that the correct way to measure the air is when it is hooked up. So we let some air out until the trailer looked level and the truck springs were carrying some of the weight. Then when we unhooked the trailer we checked the air again so we would know what the air should be when unloaded since that is how we most often would put the air in.

Have yet to make a long trip with these bags but that is coming up so I will revisit this review. I will say that the air bags lift easily and it is actually easy to overdo the lift. So far they appear to be a well built product. The only concerns that we have at all is that the left air bag isn't quite as verticle as the right one but the dealer said that was fairly common and the factory tech rep confirmed that. Also the instructions say that the weekly air loss can be as high as 3lbs on a 50lb air pressure which only experience with the product will tell us.

The Firestone Ride-Rite kit installed fine in my 2001 3/4 ton GMC. took a little longer than the instructions said it would. it was a toss up between air bags or helper springs
to help carry my cab over camper. decided to go w/the air bags and they do the job without any problems. i inflate to 70 PSI w/the camper on and drop to 10 PSI
without.

These bags are great. Very easy install, it took a couple of hours, directions were clear and explained everything you need to know for a proper install. I was a little nervous putting 70 pounds of air for the air check but everything worked out great. We put these on a 3/4 ton Chevy and we believe the ride empty was improved and definitely improved the ride with the fifth wheel attached. We coupled this with the Firestone Ride-Rite 2581Air Command F3 Wireless unit. With the wireless unit we hook up to the fifth wheel and are able to level the truck by adding or decreasing the air pressure with the remote.

Check the air valves and connections BEFORE installing the airbags! I followed the directions for installing with the last step being an air valve system check (with soapy water) after pressurizing to 70 PSI. The check failed on a airbag connection. Ouch! I had to fully uninstall that bag to get to the air connector to remove and reset it (with more torque). I then checked the airbag connector with the bag OFF the axle (but used only about 25 PSI at the bag was extending quite a bit without the weight of the bed to resist it's expansion), getting a good check this time. That's the reason for four stars...a lot of extra work that could have been avoided if I checked the air system before installing the bags. BTW, the air lines disconnect very easily when the bag is deflated.

Paired with Firestone (WR1-760-2158) Level Command II Kit and Belltech 6700 R.Lowering Kt. The lowering kit lowered my 2003 2500HD about 2 inches and I added the air bags for a factory level fit, and the truck rides on air instead of stiff springs and springs air combo, run at 10-20 PSI for re-gain of 1.5 inches. With on board air compressor and lowering kit this upgrade is well money spent, better ride, and no sag with heavy trailers. I have had this on for four weeks and love it. No leaks, fast install! Lowering kit is harder to install. I would recommend this to anyone even thinking about it!

I and my neighbor installed a set in 1999 on a F150. I and my neighbor installed this set on my Chevy 2500 hd 4x4. This was by far easier Truly 1 hour with my neighbor. I have a broken back thats why I needed help. I would strongly recommend watching the YOU TUBE Tech Tips each Truck is different. The Chevy is by far the easiest installation. Load Leveling and sway is eliminated. ALWAY keep a min of 5 to 15 lbs. in when no load.
