I like this app, but I am glad it was free. I wish it was a little more in-depth like my physical-bound book I carry in my emergency first aid kit. But, I like it because it offers some very good tips on some of the more major problems that one can encounter - heart attacks, stroke, broken bones, shock, and burns. I like that it does offer some small video clips of some of the techniques, too. I like the quiz it comes with, as well. Overall, I really like it. If you're not an EMT, then it's something you should have on hand. I like to have it available for when I'm on vacation and away from my bigger, more detailed book.

Really nice app. Good features & well organized. I haven't needed it in a high stress situation but seems like it will be easy to find what you need for just about any emergency.

This is first aid for the non-professional. IT HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND THE MEDICAL CONDITION AND WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE VICTIM'S BODY. IT ENCOURQGES YOU TO DO WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP, WITHOUT CAUSING FURTHER DAMAGE TO THE PATIENT, IN AN EMERGENCY UNTIL TRAINED MEDICAL PERSONNEL ARRIVE . It is NOT meant as a refresher course for trained medical people. It should help ordinary people face some common emergencies more calmly, knowing they understand what they can do and what the limits of their help should be. Really appreciated this very condensed but thorough enough set of articles on FIRST aid for common situations. It is available when off-line and should be on every non-medical person's mobile device in case of an emergency.

First aid isn't used often enough to keep it fresh in your mind. This app is an excellent tool to do just that. Information is brief but enough to take care of the situation especially if you've had the training.

The problem I have is the develeloper over did it for instance why hide the answers to the questions (not the test questions)? For whatever reason not enough space was given for the tap to work effectively and can get annoying!

But the information is excellent and easy reach on both my Kindle and iPhone.

I remember seeing the American Red Cross First Aid home manual in my parent's bookcase, ready for any emergency. Now we have this app, which brings that necessary utility to everyone with an Android device. As I browsed through the app, I found that it is easy to find the information, and there are even videos to help you in times of emergency. And, it's free, a gift to the world from the ARC. It was easy to download, it works very well on my Kindle Fire, I can't say enough good things about it. Thanks, American Red Cross, you continue to show how much you care for others, and thanks Amazon for putting this app in your store.

This is a valuable app. After loading this onto Kindle I was reading thru some of the items discussed such as burns and what to do. Well shortly after that I burned two of my finders on the oven. I placed my fingers under cool running water for 15 minutes according to the American Red Cross app and it worked. I did not want to stay there all that time but I did and it left no scar and no pain afterwards. Yes, get this app it is valuable for many reasons that is just one.

Phones should come with this app pre-installed. It has quick, direct responses to a myriad of medical emergencies. It has video demonstrations to clarify some of the more complicated procedures, or explain things in more detail. It has an achievement system, which I thought was a little goofy, but it lets you take small first-aid knowledge quizzes and you get "badges" for passing - you can even share them via social media, if you're into that sort of thing.

This is not a substitute for first aid training or the Red Cross First Aid Manual but for those who have had the training, it's a great checklist that can help you stay on top of an emergency situation. The little self testing mechanism is also good but just remember that the App does not have the depth of the real book. It might be helpful for someone who's never had first aid training for the treatment of minor injuries but serious first aid treatment should be left to those who have had training. In a true emergency situation where no trained person is available, someone MIGHT be able to use this App to save a life so I recommend that everyone keep it available on their phone or tablet just to be prepared. I also recommend that everyone take a first aid course if possible. They're usually available from the Red Cross for only the cost of materials and no one does a better job of first aid training than the Red Cross.
