What I absolutely LOVE about Sonya's writing is how she has such a unique perspective, uses unique names & combines the natural with the scientific, like in this dystopian society. First to Dance left me sitting on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating what was going to happen next. And when it did happen, I was pleasantly surprised with the unexpected twists & turns! She expertly & seamlessly merged a multitude of genres: romance, action, suspense, adventure & drama with smidge of comedy, with the comedy done in an intellectual & subtle way, sometimes ironically or sarcastically, which (I believe) appeals to the higher intellect, due to the lacking of slapstick.
Overall, I am excited to say that Sonya Writes has been added to my short list of authors of whom I voraciously read each fantastically written book or story & then am saddened, but excited, as it ends, knowing that the ride is over for now, but another one is coming along! I honestly do not read multiple writings of many authors, yet I truly look forward to reading more of Sonya's work & encourage anyone to check out this talented self-published author!!

Like Lois Lowry’s The Giver, First to Dance drew me into a rigid dystopian world where a bright young adult, Ayita, is beginning to open her eyes. (Though many of its protagonists are young adults, this book may not be a good fit for minors due to non-explicit sexual content and a relationship that is abusive in nature.) Ayita’s narrative is spiced with colorful characters and light, natural dialogue. But the story takes a chilling turn in the middle section, when we travel back in time to meet Etana. Even as she fights manipulation by a conscienceless seducer, the account becomes increasingly dispassionate. I found my own heart caught in the balance wondering whether, in the end, she had triumphed only by becoming as her enemy… or whether the poisonous charm of Dr. Timothy Azias had infected me at last.
First to Dance has a satisfying, hopeful ending, but it left me with plenty to think about too. You won’t agree with all the protagonists’ choices, but you’ll appreciate the strength it took to make them. Worth the read!
Unsurprisingly, many of his subjects are quite unhappy with him. Although other characters are certainly involved, this story revolves around two of the most successful women who refuse to allow his manipulations to stand, who decide to fight back and work to change the system.
Everyone needs to stick to their convictions.
Young people must read! Intellectual Property, Education's Critical importance, Relationships, Society and Future what if's!
I couldn't put the book/kindle down until I was done reading. Great job Sonya 5 stars!
