murders. She discovers Bad is the son of Satan, yet he protects her from any harm. Why?
Charlie has a lust for life as seen in this novel. There were moments when I laughed in this action packed, thrilling story. There is suspense, danger and the occasional sexy scene. The book Is the first of a series, I was surprised by the ending. It is definitely a winner!
Disclaimer: I received an arc of this book free from the author/publisher from Netgalley. I was not obliged to write a favorable review, or even any review at all. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.
The supporting characters in this story are also top notch, both the living and the dead. I laughed throughout this entire story at the antics Charley pulls and her friend Cookie is always there backing her right up one way or another. I liked that Charley did actually investigate crimes, usually ones that had been done to the victim who came to her for help. Everything about First Grave on the Right was just amazing! This is a book and a series that I highly recommend!
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from NetGalley. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
This was a pleasant surprise. Charley is an unexpected delight, she is quirky, sassy and one of the most intriguing characters I have read recently. I was completely pulled in by this story and eager to read more and find out what is up with Charley. Great characters add to a fantastic read.
Charley's kind of cool. Not really a bad a$$ physically, but she is harder to kill than the average bear. She's full of wise cracks and sarcasm...and sometimes it seems like a tad TOO much - but the story is light and fun. She has a couple of side kicks ( 1 living, 1 dead) who help her solve mysteries and in the first installment she solves the mystery of the 3 dead lawyers.
Charley also has a fantasy lover, or more exactly an incorporeal lover...and part of the book involves figuring out just who he is, and then once she does what his deal is. Who he is, is Reyes Alexander Farrow and honestly, never has incorporeal been so hot! Turns out Reyes and Charley have been connected from the very beginning - but they may be pitching for opposite teams, and Reyes may possibly have to kill her - but in a loving for her own good and the good of all mankind kinda way.
The first installment was fast paced, fun and entertaining. I'd give it a solid 4 1/2 stars and the other half star is awarded to Reyes - for the possibility of being the best tortured, conflicted anti-hero ever - time will tell.
