In this book, we get more of the back story of Oracle Bay, and the local palmist, Misty, is dealing with her combined interest and frustration in the local goat herd Hero, Joseph. He's rude and hiding something, and calls Misty "Mystic" - which is her actual name. It also makes her utterly furious when he does it. But Misty is going to get past Joseph's stubborn attitude, if for no other reason than to make sure that there is some amazing goat cheeses at the Harvest Bazaar.
Naturally; there is a tremendous amount of tension between the two. Of course, in Oracle Bay, things are not exactly as they seem. Who is this woman who is visiting all of the readers in town, and why is she giving them the heebie jeebies? Who is after Joseph's goats, and why? You must read to find out - no spoilers.
The author does a bang up job of making this mythical place not only enchanting, but a place I'd want to go. To live, even if I were the only mundane in the lot. She also expands characters from her previous book 'Not in the Cards' and keeps the story arc alive and moving forward. There's something to be said for a series that continues with the lives of all the characters, even when the focus is on only two at a time.
I was SUPER excited to see this story was about Misty and Joseph. The first book foreshadowed "something" about this relationship and it was fun to learn the history.
I found the timeline a little confusing. It took me several chapters to realize these events were happening concurrently with Oracle Bay 1. But, it was skillfully done once I realized it.
I am really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next!
