This well written thriller opens with a man on the run who remembers nothing--not even what a cell phone is. The questions will storm your brain in the first chapter: Who is this guy, who is after him, and what will happen when the cops find him? The ride quickly develops into a page turning mystery with well developed characters in a beautifully written novel. The proper use of law enforcement and medical terms gives the story credibility, and use of literary techniques such as flashbacks sucks the reader in.

This book is an awesome read for anyone who loves well written crime/medical drama.

I have not read many medical thrillers in the past but this one caught my eye just by the title since Im a nurse. It had me guessing from the start and was wrong 95% of the way through the book. I like a good surprize ending and this one did just that for me. I was never bored at all, hated to put it down.

The first mystery book by this author and what I hope will be a series. A gripping medical mystery with lots of twists and turns and authentic detail written by a cardiologist. Dr. L.Jane Ira has a considerable talent for writing in this genre... I could not put it down...I give it 5 stars and cannot wait for the next one.

Even though this was this author's first book, I thought that is was excellent. It kept me engaged throughout the entire story. It was not that predictable because there were several people who could have "done it".
I cannot wait to begin reading the second book in the series.

I loved this book, but I also work in the Medical field and could figure out alot of what was going on and being said in the cases when it wasn't explained.

I think some people that can skim over the medicalease will enjoy it too. I can't wait to read the next one!

This was the first writing attempt for Dr. L. Jan Eira and he nailed it! This book is full of suspense, murder, intrigue, it will have you guessing at every turn. I had to force myself to put it down. I am also an RN and thought it was clever the way Dr L. Jan Eira used the book to also teach the reader about heart related information. I have also read the second book and will be reviewing it, it too is a great read!

I read both books. First Do NO Harm and the sequel, Seconds From Revenge. I enjoyed the plot line and, I must admit, stayed up late to find out what would happen next. Before reading his bio it seemed obvious that Peira was not American born. It amazes me that in the reviews not one person mentioned the use of stilted language and the misuse and overuse of adverbs to the point of it being ridiculous.
In Seconds from Revenge a truck is described as "corpulent". The first book, at the very beginning, refers to chaotic breathing. and the childish line "Everything was just right in Evansville". Jack Norris, protagonist, has been injected with a poisonous chemical and is in a panic. His fear sends him scampering away from the hospital's main building. Picture it, this terrified man scampering! On almost every page there is the use/misuse of florid language and excessive description that distracts from the urgency or point of the circumstance of the moment.
Two years ago I had a pacemaker implant so I did appreciate the explanations about heart disease, how the heart works.& the many things that can go wrong. Good info for a heart patient.
Both book would benefit greatly by editing and removal of much of the excess verbiage.

This is a great read, especially if you work in the medical field and are familiar with medical conditions and terminology. The book is fast paced and takes some unexpected twists to keep you guessing. Even if you're not familiar with medical jargon, the author creatively explains medical topics referenced in the book so everyone can follow the material and enjoy the suspense.
