From the Author
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1978. Throughout my childhood, I drove everyone around me insane with constant writings, poems, stories, and plays. My friends and family were forced to watch-- and often take part in-- a plethora of theatrical performances written or adapted by yours truly. This passion for writing won me the very notable and prestigious Fourth Grade Writing Award for the writing fair at my elementary school that year. I was very proud.
Sometime during high school, I lost faith in myself and my abilities and chose to walk the pragmatic path after graduation. Because teaching was a career that I had also been interested in since childhood, I chose that as my path. Attending Kennesaw State University, I earned a B.S. in English Education and went on to a career in teaching high school English and Literature courses. Most days I'm fairly certain I'm the only one in the room enjoying the material. While I know that we cannot all fall in love with English classes, I still believe that reading for pleasure is vital to our own personal happiness and wholeness.
When I am not reading, writing, or teaching, I am pursuing one of my other two passions: cooking and traveling. So far, the only places I have visited outside of the U.S. are Mexico, England, France, and Italy. However, my husband and I visit England on an annual basis to visit his family, and I hope to add many more countries to our repertoire over the coming years. My daughter has recently been able to share in these wonderful adventures with us as well. Traveling is an eye-opening experience that can enrich the lives and minds of everyone, regardless of age.
Recently, inspiration caught me up in a whirlwind of my mind's own creation. Through a complex set of mental twists and turns, I found my muse. I found my story.
I found my self-confidence. And now I have found the missing pieces of myself again. My hope is that my story touches others in ways they can't even imagine yet.
