For a beginner, this is a lot to absorb. There is a lot I have to read and re-read, but basically this is very well done. It gives a clear explanation of the hieroglyphics and I love that there is text from the original glyphs to read and translate.

I recommend it. Just take your time and let your mind absorb.

A little advanced for true beginners, I haven't gotten too far in it yet because I am actually learning from the beginning with "How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs: A Step-by-Step Guide to Teach Yourself, Revised Edition" (I know thats supposed to be underlined but I don't know if I can do that in this text box). I have a feeling this book will be an immense help when I learn enough to use it!

Budge wrote in the early part of the 20th century, and even then, he wasn't the best egyptologist. Certainly, the pronunciation he gives in this book is non-standard, differing from every other writer in the field.
The only real reason to read Budge is that he makes the actual hieroglyphic texts available in book form - but there are others who do the same.
To learn the language, see Middle Egyptian by James Allen.
Or, better yet (but more expensive), Egyptian Grammar by Gardiner. Written almost 90 years ago, but still cited by Egyptologists as the best in the field.

Dont buy ANY book by Budge.

Do not buy ANY book by Budge. They clash with ALL the more modern writers, and by modern one can start with Gardiner's Egyptian Grammar published in 1927 and still useful.
