Andrew is a single dad who is raising his little girl after his ex just left them behind years ago. He'll do whatever it takes to make her happy and raise her as a strong independent lady. His sister is determined though to get him to see that life is more than that and tries to get him out there again to maybe find love again but Andrew is having none of it. He's happy and is just trying to do the best for his little girl. But when he meets Amelia, there's this spark between them that will ignite a fire inside him that maybe will end up being more than just one night promised....
Amelia doesn't need another man in her life after being burned so badly and even though her soon to be ex-husband tries to win her back, she doesn't want anyone new in her life. When she first meets Andrew, there's this attraction between them that she can't seem to deny. But will it be enough to break, not only her walls, but also his?...
I was so excited to learn that Sadie's brother(from Slip of the Tongue) was getting his own book. The snippets of hot, moody, tattooed, single dad were in no way enough!
There should've been no doubt that Jessica Hawkins would deliver tenfold. The couple in this book is literally so hot that you're going to need to take breaks. Drink breaks water breaks breathing breaks fanning yourself breaks....all of the above were taken while I read it.
it's not as controversially topiced as slip of the tongue, which is probably great for some of the people that couldn't stomach the storyline from the other book. But I love all of Jessica Hawkins' words equally!!
Amelia and Andrew could not be more opposite, but the attraction between the two is OFF THE CHARTS. Neither wants a relationship, so why not indulge in some fun with no strings attached. That's all well and good until feelings start to get in the way. The banter between the two is awesome. Amelia is so feisty and independent, she doesn't let anything slide with Andrew and I think that's one of the things that attracts her to him the most.
Andrew is true to himself, his work and where he comes from. He's not into flash, living the high life or New York City, where Amelia lives. His first priority is his daughter, Bell. Their relationship is a bit co-dependent, both of them still feeling the effects of Bell's Mom leaving them.
It may be hard to believe that such opposites could attract, City Girl and New Jersey garage owner. However, they started their relationship with such honesty it as easy to see how it turned into something more for both of them. Neither of them were expecting something more from one another, so their relationship started with a certain type of ease.
The sexy scenes were just...WOW! Jessica does not disappoint. All the characters, supporting or otherwise were an added bonus to this heartwarming tale of opposites attract. She knows how to pull you in and not let go until she's done sharing her tale of love!
What was great about these character and their story was the honesty that they had in there relationship from the beginning. When things started to progress and move in a different direction, neither one of them hid it from the other. One of my most favorite parts was when Amelia (Mila) and Bell started to bond. They're relationship progressed slowly, but you could feel the change in Amelia when she was around Bell.
Both characters have a relationship from the past haunting them and making their lives a little more difficult. With the reappearances of their exes it really put things into perspective for Andrew and Amelia. They were both able to realize that they could move on with the right person.
OH MY! The hot sexy parts were OH SO HOT and OH SO SEXY! This might be some of the sexiest reads that I have read this year. Andrew really know how to handle Amelia, he knew all the right ways to open her up and to make her a wanton woman. This book made me really want to have bigger tub and take a bath, it also made me miss smoking and want to try whiskey ;)

Having read and loved Slip Of The Tongue I was eager to get my hands on this book. This is the story of Sadie's brother, Andrew. I found it quite hard going to fall for Andrew and Amelia for a long way into the book, they just didn’t grab me to begin with. I just couldn't see them gelling, I didn't feel the 'kapow' of love. It seemed that Amelia's feelings about children jumped from one extreme to the other, with no build up.
The story picked up in the end and gave me a bit of excitement. I have to say that I did HATE Reggie, Amelia's soon to be ex-husband! What an absolute creep!
Andrew is still reeling after four years from his ex-girlfriend disappearing in the night and leaving him with his three year old daughter, Bell. He no longer believes in love, just sex for sex sake. He meets stuck up boss lady, Amelia and likes what he sees. Amelia has her demons and she feels the same about love as Andrew, so one night is a great idea to her.
A lot of their relationship is dealing with past issues and their insecurities. The last part of the book was great and I loved the ending. The writing was good, another time, another mood may have had me more involved in their story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book it was a nice 'boy meets girl' romance but boy and girl have issues with previous relationships; there is not too much angst to cause me sleepless nights. This was a well written book that I could curl up on the sofa with and lose myself in the 'will they / won't they get together' scenario. There is something super sexy about a single dad and Andrew was right up there with as a BFF I could fall in love with!
A thoroughly fantastic read and definitely an author I will follow for future releases.
I loved Slip of the tongue but this book is just SO much more. It's super hot, sexy, and just amazing!
I now have a bad case of book hangover!
I had anticipated that we'd have to work for Amelia and Andrew getting together.
Amelia is the tough boss, an independent, self sufficient woman who believes in bashing men so to speak and thinks she definitely doesn't need them. When I'd first met her in Sadie's book, I'd fallen in love with her character. She's just so take no nonsense kinda woman and I absolutely adore and love her. So definitely I was oh so excited to read about her story of falling in love.
Andrew, well, that man is just... I want to hug him so tight. Truly a spectacular father and and even better person as a man.
This two people have been wronged in love and survived. So definitely they don't believe in such things anymore.
Oh my...... Right from when Andrew meets Amelia, I was just so into their story. I devoured completely this book.
And yes Bell, sweet bell is just so adorable yet is very mature for a girl her age. I LOVED their interactions, how Andrew made her come first in his life than anything else.
This book has melted me, blown me away and I'm in love with this characters. 10+ stars. 💋💋
Andrew Beckwith, (OMG), Andrew is the perfect alpha male. He's protective, intense, determined to get what he wants, not to mention he's a sinfully sexy single dad?
Amelia Van Ecken, is sassy as hell. Not only is she feisty as hell but she also strong-willed and independent.
Jessica's books have some of the hottest most intense scenes I’ve ever read. I highly recommend all her books.
