About the Author
Richard Sullivan is the great grandson of THE FIRST WARD's protagonist, Detective Sergeant James Sullivan of Buffalo Precinct 7. The author's father was born and raised in the First Ward and brought up his nine children on stories of his youth spent there, which at one time terrified them, but in more recent times, fascinates. Volume 2, titled FINGY CONNERS & THE NEW CENTURY, was released in 2012. Volume 3, titled MURDERERS, SCOUNDRELS AND RAGAMUFFINS was released in 2015. Sullivan is the author of two very successful award-winning Hawaii photo-guidebooks, DRIVING & DISCOVERING OAHU and DRIVING & DISCOVERING MAUI & MOLOKAI, as well as a fitness book for people over 40, titled RECLAIM YOUR YOUTH and a genealogy research guide, FAMILY SECRETS AND GENEALOGY RESEARCH TIPS.

My brother and I loved the book. It is about the exact streets where our grandparents lived and Mom and her siblings grew up. One of the people featured in Sullivan's book was her uncle, Mike Regan, Chief of Police. Like many people born in the First Ward, my Mom loved the First Ward. She didn't know they were poor, had great friends, was allowed to roam the neighborhood and the lumber yards. She ends a short story about growing up in the First Ward with "Turn back, Turn Back. Time in your flight. Give me yesterday just for to-night."
But no matter what your interests are in Historical fiction, you will find a story here that you can enjoy.
I highly encourage everyone with or without Irish descendants to read this series.
