Two families of fish are going head to head for the best spot in the new aquarium! On your turn, choose one of your fish pieces and drop it. Be careful as pieces bounce in unexpected directions and sea creatures try to block the fish from forming a group!
The first player to connect 5 of their fish in the aquarium wins the game!
Involving strategy and exciting unpredictability, Fish Club was invented by American film director, David Wexler, who is the son of Howard Wexler, creator of the famed children’s game Connect 4. Intended for children aged five and up, Fish Club is destined to become the next classic two-player game given its tie to such a beloved game for past generations of children and families.
Drop, Dive, and group Five!
The ultimate goal of Fish Club is to be the first of two players to connect five fish pieces in the aquarium. Unlike Connect Four which has a structured grid, Fish Club is more unpredictable as once the fish are dropped in from the top of the tank, they are able to bounce and move around the “water.” An additional unexpected element of the game is the use of blocker “sea creature” pieces which players can use to prevent their opponent from forming a full group of five fish. The game can be played again and again to see how to quickly link five fish and out beat one’s opponent.
How to play?
1 - Divide the fish! One player takes the red fish, the other player takes the blue fish. The yellow sea creatures are divided equally.
2- Take turn dropping a fish into the aquarium. Your goal is to be the first to have 5 of your fish connected to each others to win!
Beware of the fish bouncing when they drop!
3 - Use the yellow sea creatures as blockers to keep your opponent from forming a group of 5 fish!
4- Connect 5 of your fish first and win the game!
Fish Club is a classic two player abstract strategy game with a modern twist. Two families of fish are going head to head for the best spot in the new aquarium! On your turn, choose one of your fish pieces and drop it. Be careful as pieces bounce in unexpected directions and sea creatures try to block the fish from forming a group! While there are some similarities to the ever popular game Connect Four, Fish Club enhances the same fine/perceptual skills in its own unique way. The game is simple to learn and visually appealing to look at. The two color of fish are placed through a thin opening in order to land arbitrarily in a colorful aquarium. Children develop both eye-hand coordination and fine motor dexterity, if they hold more than one fish in their hand to drop. The objective…..You are looking to connect 5 of the same color fish together. There are other aquatic pieces that each player can use to block the configuration of fish and make it more difficult to win. Visual perceptual skills are enhanced in such an entertaining way as you scan the aquarium looking for five in a row. Perfect for ages 4 to 8 …...however, I find myself playing with my 26 year old daughter. Can’t recommend highly enough and do check out the other games from Blue Orange.
Games are fast and fun, and I like that all pieces easily store back into the aquarium (and box) when play time is done. The game is impartial—our youngest wins just as frequently as our oldest, and that makes for happy kids. Fish Club requires no reading or special skills to play.
My kids had fun playing this and played a few rounds together before an argument broke out.
The game is really a game of luck and a bit of strategy. Since the fish never land exactly where you expect you don't know what the exact outcome will be when you drop it ( like connect four it goes exactly where you think it will.
