A letter-perfect way to introduce baby to the alphabet and more
As baby stacks these chunky square- and circle-shaped blocks, the learning keeps building and building! The big connectors on top and bottom make it easy and foolproof for baby to stack them any way she chooses. Lettered from A-Z and sporting familiar objects that start with each featured letter, these alphabet blocks also introduce baby to letters and words – from A (for apple) to Z (for zebra). They’re designed in partnership with music superstar Shakira to help get your toddler ready for school – and life.
They really stack up for helping baby’s development
Grasping the blocks and stacking them help build baby’s fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. As your toddler learns how to stack and unstack the blocks, his thinking and problem-solving skills are being fostered. And you’re introducing him to letters, words and the alphabet, too! All of that learning and play can take your toddler’s skills to a whole new level.
Make it a block party
As baby stacks the blocks, point out each letter and say the name of the object out loud. Before you know it, your toddler will be recognizing the letters and saying the names of the objects all on her own. Practice (and repetition) does make perfect.

Shakira First Steps Collection
Shakira First Steps Collection Musical Friends Bouncer
Introduce baby to an early love of music and global beats with this fun-filled bouncer, developed in partnership with musical superstar Shakira! Musical Friends Bouncer helps entertain baby with a removable toy bar featuring lights, sounds and music, and animal activity toy friends. Baby can pull down on the activity toys to activate up to 20 minutes of sensory-stimulating music, sounds and a colorful 'dancing light' show that encourages eye-tracking. Animal friends bounce and wiggle overhead as baby’s own movements make the seat gently bounce, encouraging baby to reach and grasp. For soothing, switch on calming vibrations, remove the toy bar, and let baby nap or relax on the soft, machine-washable, dryer-safe fabric seat pad with adjustable three-point restraint.
Shakira First Steps Collection Kick & Play Piano Gym
Baby kicks. Music plays. And that’s just the beginning. Four linkable toys on the overhead lay & play gym, as well as the piano, encourage baby to bat, reach, kick and grasp. The shiny self-discovery mirror reflects a familiar, happy face. (Hi, Baby!) When baby’s ready for tummy time (an important developmental activity for baby), the arch and all its activities move down for hands-on fun. And when baby’s ready to sit & play, the piano is ready to 'play,' too. Just like the linkable activity toys, the take-along piano is removable. Take musical piano fun and the other activity toy friends wherever baby goes.
Shakira First Steps Collection Move 'n Groove Soccer Ball
Soft soccer ball encourages active, motor skill-building play with silly sounds and 11 original global music tunes inspired by music from around the world. Friendly, soft-fabric ball is easy for baby to grasp, bat, roll, toss and kick—with bright colors, touchable textures and musical sounds to help stimulate baby’s senses, too.

Old time blocks stack, and are wood. OK... I really wanted that. But, these are great. They are plastic, and have a good 'feel' to them. I like the idea that they interlock. It gives the baby something more than just stack them on top of each other. They can be stacked without the interlock - just put them on another side.
A block has a picture of an apple... D block has a picture of a dog.... etc.
This is a good learning tool for your child.
My only gripe is that the letters are just painted on - silk screened, I believe. With use, they will wear off. So, one star off.
update 2/17/2016: Well, my granddaughter (age 2) knows all the letters, and is spelling words. And, the building of towers is totally fun.......along with the added fun of knocking them down!!! Letter have not worn off... cool beans. This is one of her favorite play toys.
I do like that the letters and pictures are painted on the blocks rather than being decals but I can't find anywhere on the box where it mentions that non-toxic paint is used. They are made by Mattel/Fisher Price so I would like to assume the blocks are safe to go in babies and toddlers mouths but the box doesn't corroborate this. That is why I didn't rate these blocks higher.
Only the non alphabetical round and square blocks fit snugly to each other but not to the alphabet blocks.
I would rate them high for the concept but poor in execution.
These pieces hardly stay together when stacking them, something that Mega Bloks do. I'm not sure if they actually meant for them not to cling together for longer than a moment thinking that toddlers would find them hard to pull apart otherwise. The least satisfying pieces are the ones I call the "connectors" which are just circular pieces without any letters or designs on them.
There isn't much you can do other than build a tower straight up. By the time my son was interested in these, he could already put two Mega Bloks pieces together and found that obviously more satisfying. Mega Bloks is also classy enough to provide a storage bag which I have found incredibly handy. I am STILL finding pieces of this Shakira set all over my home after regifting it to a younger relative.
