It took me about twenty minutes to assemble it, but it was fairly simple to do and thankfully my husband kept the baby entertained during the process. As soon as it was assembled our son immediately went for the door and spent about five minutes opening and closing it. Of course, our child is obsessed with opening and closing all doors, so perhaps this part of the toy might not be as entertaining to all children.
It's a bulky toy, so be sure you either really want your living area or child's bedroom to have a country theme (oh wait, I forget some people can actually have playrooms for their children), or have a large closet in which you can store the farm. It does not fold up for easy storage and it's heavier for safety purposes. The carrying handle does help with the weight of the toy.
The pages do not make a turning sound like they do on other Fisher Price Learning toys, but I'm sure our son will still flip the pages back and forth. This toy is not going to be your child's ticket into MENSA. You need to explain the letters, numbers and processes yourself and -gasp- actually play and interact with your child if you want them to learn from the toy. Otherwise, they will learn basic concepts such as cause and effect, fine motor skills and gross muscle coordination from playing with the different parts.
I like this toy, I would definitely recommend it and I look forward to my son enjoying it in different ways as he ages.
I would highly recommend!
