This is educational and cute. It teaches shape sorting as well as foods, counting, and greetings. It also sings. There really isn't anything wrong with the toy. The only reason it got 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is that it's kind of expensive for what you get, which is basically a musical shape sorter. There are so many toys like this out there that you might not want or need to pay the price for this one.

Leapfrog makes a picnic basket toy that offers way more for your money. It comes with 2 cups, plates, and forks so children can play with it together but still offers the shape sorting and other educational things. It is also bigger and has less annoying music. That is the one I prefer.

First off let me say I love Fisher Price laugh and learn toys, which is why I purchased this toy for my daughter. She likes the toy but the handle sometimes get in her way when she is playing with the toy (she is 7 months old). She likes playing with the LeapFrog picnic basket that my niece has better LeapFrog Shapes And Sharing Picnic Basket. This is a really cute toy and a good multi-purpose toy (shape sorter).

This toy has been growing with my baby as she reaches her toddler years. At first, it was just a pretty thing to look at, then she discovered the lid triggered music. I must admit, the inflection of the singer at the end of the bumble bee song is making me crazy, but it is easily overlooked. The different settings mix things up to keep the child learning, entertained and the parents from burning out on the same sounds over and over. My only complaint was that I had bought most of the Fisher-Price line from this series and had assumed that the shape sorter would work throughout the product line. For instance, the matching tea set is too tall to fall into the basket and become lodged in the holes. It takes a bit of prying to get them loose.

Other than that, I like that each block represents a food, a color and a shape and they are reinforced with the picnic blanket. Truth be told, she plays with the fabric more than the toy sometime!

You might want to take care that the child does not stand on the toy. I have her play area right next to the couch, but it took me a few minutes to see that her small foot had slipped through one of the holes in the basket. It didn't hurt her so she didn't cry out, but it was uncomfortable for her to get it loose again!

This has limited play. My daughter now has the leapfrog version and it is much better! Opt for that one for more fun! It has cups, food, and sound and encourages pretend play whereas this is really just a shape sorter.

This toy was a great Christmas present for my 18 month old niece. But she's already grown bored with it and is has lost two of the pieces (it's 8 p.m. and she got it at 9 a.m.). I'd say "yes, it's a fun toy," but I'm not sure I'd buy another one in the future. It was pretty pricey for what you get too. I'd say something like $12.99 or less would seem a more reasonable price for this item.

We have two little picnic baskets for our daughter and even though this one is smaller, I do prefer it for now. It is more educational and more interactive. The shapes have food on them and the basket talks to as you put them through their prospective slots. However, it isn't very deep and often times you have to move a shape to get another in. But otherwise, great toy and cute little set.

My daughter liked the music to this but never really took to it. She was 2 at the time. My 19 month old isn't interested yet either. Seems like a good shape sorter but not really a winner for some reason.

My daughter got this as a gift, I wish we would have taken it back and gotten the v-tech picnic basket. For the extra few dollars that one acutely looks fun. My daughter has no interest in this toy at all.
