Fisher-Price Little People Fun Sounds Farm: The Little People Fun Sounds Farm brings hours of imaginative play from the farm right into a child’s world. Complete with adorable animals, sounds, songs and activities, this iconic toy – with its redesigned taller barn and silo – lets children play sitting or standing on all sides of the toy. Eight sing-along songs encourage role-playing and learning. There’s so much for little hands to do on this farm, and as they get busy, they’re practicing grasping skills, too!
From the Manufacturer
The Little People Fun Sounds Farm brings imaginative play from the farm to toddlers. A new, taller barn and silo make it easy for them to sit OR stand to play. Farmer Eddie and his animals provide lots of interesting things to do – there are doors that open and close with sing along songs and fun animal sounds, a drop thru silo & slide with funny sounds, a baler that tips up to deliver the hay into the top floor of the barn, a ‘clucking' chicken on her nest and even fences to create a separate corral. The barn doors, as always, open with a 'moo' or a 'neigh' and all-new songs that open a child's imagination to life on the farm. And it features upbeat day songs or slower night songs – just change the mode. Includes Eddie, a horse, cow, sheep and the chicken in her nest, plus the hay bale and 4 great fence pieces to create a whole big corral for the animals. Storage is provided in the silo plus an on/off switch let's mom guide the play.

What I don't get with these Fisher Price toys lately is the yellow dial that changes the "time" from day to night (the doll house has the same thing). I understand the concept, but what I don't get is why they don't make it easier to turn. My daughter always wants to turn it, but she can't do it on her own so she is constantly asking for "help." (She's currently almost 17 months and she's had this since Christmas).
I'm happy to help, but if this is supposed to encourage independent, pretend play, then why include a feature that small kids can't operate?
Overall though, I do really love this toy. She loves the little figures (we have even more farm animals because we received some separately as a gift) and she loves putting objects in the silo then opening the door to see them fall out. She also likes seeing me flip the hay using the lever inside the barn (she hasn't completely mastered that one on her own yet).
Plus, we got this on mega sale before Christmas, so for $20 you can't go wrong.
On the down side the music and sounds are random when the doors are opened- they could be any one of the animal sounds or the songs. Switching the night to day dial doesn't seem to change what sounds will be heard. I would have enjoyed having my daughter switch from day to night and have different sounds for each.
The big draw back was the difference between this set and other little people sets:
This set is made of a thinner plastic the the older little people barn I purchased second hand. The fences also will not match up with the older little people fences as they click on lower. Something to be aware of if you are thinking of purchasing this to go with other sets.
The other thing is the little boy is 1/4 inch taller and he is thinner then the traditional little people. The thin base (0.8 to 1.1 inch across at thinnest and widest point vs 1.0 to 1.3 on the traditional people) means he doesn't stay in the cars and chairs of the other little people sets. Also of note his overalls have a printed on design. It allows for more detail but it also changes the look of the figure making it look cheaper.
The black paint on one of the horse's hooves had a bur, I was able to file it down with a nail file.
I'm okay with this product overall as I only paid $20 for it during one of the November specials. I don't think I would have been willing to pay much more then that for this product though. I would NOT recommend this product if you already have little people sets but as a stand alone it would be just fine for farm play.
Ladder Screws - they are located in a tiny bag inside the larger bag that holds the barn slide, fence pieces, red roof. I could not find them anywhere and had thrown all the plastic away, called Fisher Price service and then they told me where they were. You don't need to go buy screws.
Problem with the sound - I could not get it to do anything other than moo/neigh/bloop - I changed the batteries, still nothing (which was why I called service) but all of a sudden as my daughter played with it as I was on the phone it started working. Make sure the barn is seated in the base correctly and change the batteries. It is the white barn doors that make it "sing".
Overall my daughter loves it and it's cute. In my opinion, a little over priced for what you get, but it complements the other Little People items.
My complaint is that I expected more. I am not sure what "more" is exactly, but I felt disappointed once we got it assembled (which was very easy) and checked out all the features. The music is activated by swinging the barn doors or turning the dial under the chicken. The music isn't annoying, but it is a little weird.
All in all, I think she will play with this for many years. We have had a number of 2 and 3 year olds over and they have been very excited playing with the barn. I definitely do not regret the purchase.
