For example, they mention it's a great toy to learn with, it gives the child exercise while learning, and it'll be well worth it for any preschool age child. I bought this when my daughter was 2 1/2 and my son still stayed relatively where I put him... about one... because I could never turn on my Wii without yells of "I do I do!" and getting shoved off :) so I thought, this is awesome, she likes to do Wii type stuff and knows all her shapes and colors and is getting started on letters and numbers, this will be great....
When it says "3" it means "3" :) I did not factor in that my daughter was not quite at the stage where she had patience and could follow directions perfectly... she didn't stop to listen fully yet and got frustrated extremely fast with it, she didn't realize she had to stay on the "sidewalk" and wsa stomping on the function spots randomly and we both got frustrated and put it away... now she's 3 1/4 and I realized one day she was following directions very well and could focus on things one step at a time so I pulled the "wii" out again and she LOVED it.... it was a match made in heaven.... she spent two and a half hours on it the first night and had to be convinced to go to bed so she could play it the next day.... she was thrilled and excited with every accomplishement and came to tell me all about it every time she finished a challenge, she answers their questions, picks what they say she can pick from and does it all on her own...she runs and stomps and jumps and walks to her hearts delight.... we've since upgraded the TV to one with a/v ports which made my life infinitly easier than dealing with a VCR through to the Coxaial cable on the old tv which took forever to get to match up :) so I just have to turn her tv on and put it on video in the morning on weekends and she can pull the mat down and turn it on whenever she wants to play.....
my only worry is how much stomping can it take? I have had other kids visit who are twice my daughters age and I forgot to put it up, I found them stomping like mad with such force I was sure they had damaged it.... and the cables I worry about if they get twisted or bent.... and I'd say definately something to watch if you still have a little one around who is at the stage where they wrap things around their neck.... not issues per say just worries ...... one of those things to be aware of....
all in all, she's happy as can be... and I am too :) am I on the Wii successfully now? no.... in the time it took her to grow mature enough to follow directions the baby grew into a toddler that is always attached to my leg :) and BTW I have to put up a kid gate to keep him out of sister's room while she's playing her "Wii" because he gets in the way and tries to "help" poking at the mat and flipping the switch off etc as younger siblings in the "I want to do everything you do" idolizing stage are apt to do :)
Yes the graphics aren't the best in the world but it's a kids toy... think along the lines of Nintendo grapics after you upgraded from that Atarii :) it was nice to get some shape and color wasn't it??? :) kids don't mind (unless it's a tv show, and then the tv snob comes out ;) ) they just like the graphics and "friends" to play with while they run... so round up a TV that's appropriate, has the A/V inputs and isn't HD :) but relatively nice enough in screen size so they can see all that's going on :)
I like this product. The graphics aren't very great but my 2 year old loves it. She's still a little young to use it but its a great toy to learn with. She loves anything that plugs into the TV and eventually she will be able to understand the game. Worth the money if you ask me but should def have better graphics, we have a 50" TV so it could be part of the problem, I really don't know. But its not a good enough reason not to buy and educational/fun game for my kids!
I bought this for my 4yr old daughter and she loves it. It tires her out pretty quickly with all the running and jumping lol. I think the games should be longer because i got bored with it pretty fast just watching her, but its not 4 me right? lol. Its educational and i like that part
I bought this for my son for Christmas. He has been loving it! He turns 4yrs old in three days. He loves playing it. Very easy to use and understand. Lots of games and opportunities to learn. He needs some help with the adding and subtracting. But its actually helping him to really learn it. Keeps him physically active too. Lots of running and jumping and counting. Overall a great game. The mat does move some but he can move it back in place easily.
Not very well made, which was disappointing. The games would not hold my sons or neighbors two girls attention. Thought it would require them to be more active while playing, but it was basically a slow tap dance while anything they could learn from it needs to be known just to play. So not any good on the educational side either. I tried to get the kids to engage by playing with them, but it just wasn't happening, not after about two min anyway.
The Smart Fit Park arrived on schedule, in perfect condition, and as described on Amazon. Connection to the TV took all of 60 seconds. Other reviewers discussed poor image quality on HD TV sets but we had an older standard definition TV we could devote to this. The picture quality if sharp, bright, and very pleasing. This was a gift for our 2 year old grandson. While young, he is used to electronics in the house - remote controls, cell phones, computers, and tons of other electronic toys - so he got right into jumping on the mat. He is still learning the connection between what he does on the mat and what happens on the TV screen. Also, at 2, his attention span is short but he enjoys the fun physical aspect of this compared to many of his other educational toys that are used while sitting. Certainly worth having and recommending to friends and family.
I got this for my 4 year old and she likes it and I love that it is so easy to set up and she can even turn it on or off by herself. So far the longest she's wanted to play it is for about 15 minutes but I'm happy that she is learning and being active at the same time. I would recommend this for parents who are concerned with getting their children kindergarten ready.
