By Grandma Zizzy TOP 1000 REVIEWER on August 11, 2012
Our grandson received Take-n-Play's Blue Mountain Mystery products for Christmas in 2012, and one of the many fun aspects about being grandparents is that we got to see his presents ahead of time! Luke is a green Narrow Gauge engine (with white lining, his name painted in white on both sides of his tank, and a small number "22" on the sides of his cab, with 4 black wheels) who was introduced in 9/2012's Blue Mountain Mystery movie (though we do wonder why Fisher-Price designed him without the very tall funnel he had in the movie... it was one of Luke's most noticeable features!) While working at the Blue Mountain Quarry, Thomas finds Luke hiding in a tunnel, because he's afraid he'll have to leave the Island of Sodor if anyone finds out about an accident he feels responsible for. On a boat on his way to Sodor, he met a Hispanic engine named Victor and - in his excitement to get onto the island - accidentally bumped him, causing him to fall right into the sea! After doing some detective work, Thomas discovers that Victor had not been properly secured to the boat, and tells a relieved Luke that it had not been his fault after all!

But, ohmygosh, grab one of these versions of Luke while you can! they've come out with an extremely PLASTICIZED new version - model #CCJ89 - which is even more "smushed up"... and crazy as it is, Fisher-Price is showing the same $6 MSRP for BOTH!) We weren't able to afford the wooden trains, and these fit our budget. We're glad we invested, but also glad we got out when we did! If you plan to purchase Take-n-Play, we hope you're able to get some of the older, high quality models before they're all replaced. (And just so you're aware, Take-n-Play products are not compatible with wooden tracks.

We love the Take and Play toys. They are sturdy and have lots of details. My son was very excited to get Luke but the first words out of his mouth were "Why is his funnel so short?" The character of Luke has a very tall funnel. Taller than his cab. The toy version, at least the Take and Play version has a very short "stumpy" funnel. Not a big deal but kids are smart. They notice little things like that. I was surprised, since most of the other Thomas toys are well done with perfect details.

This metal version of Luke is more realistic, that is looks more like the animated Thomas character, but will not fit on a track gauge like all of the other Thomas the Train wooden engines. Granted the character is a "narrow" gauge engine, but "take and play" should be clarified to mean does not fit on normal gauge wooden track.
Otherwise, very sturdy and beautiful toy,.

My 4 year old grandson asked for this character as he collects ALL the Thomas and Friends engines. Of course he LOVES it and plays with his trains for hours and hours. He is happy to play alone and uses his imagination quite well. I really like these Thomas products for this reason. The TV show is excellent as well and goes along beautifully with the toys like Luke.

This train, Luke, is very small and the wheels don't move very much. It is cute and was appreciated by my son but definitely might end up getting the bigger one for a holiday in future so it will work with other trains/tracks.

My son can not get enough of Blue Mountain Mystery and so Luke is the star of the show, next to Thomas that is. He has long awaited a Luke in his collection. Looks original and new.

We ordered this thinking it was the old version of the Take-n-Play Luke. The new versions have round magnets, and we don't like them as much. Instead of receiving any kind of dicast version, we received a Wooded Railway Luke instead. We are very disappointed that we have to go through the process of sending an item back just to get what we thought we were ordering in the first place.
