BTW, buy off brand blades on amazon. They work better and are less expensive than fiskars or olfa.
The good: The cutter is really comfortable in your hand and it's far easier to cut around pattern pieces than using scissors. When the cutter came out of the package, the blade was so sharp, all I had to do was wave it around above the fabric and the garment pieces magically cut themselves. Well, not really, but it seemed that way; it was really sharp and cut effortlessly.
The bad: the blade didn't even last a single garment. I cut on a self-healing mat. I was making a cotton broadcloth shirt. By the time I got to the last few pieces, the cutter would not cut at all. I could rub my thumb down the blade and not cut myself, it was that dull. Seriously. Wow.
The ugly: $9 for replacement blades. I bought this on a whim to supplement a 15-year-old 45mm Olfa cutter I have. The Olfa still has the original blade and still cuts like a champ, but I figured the handle would be good for my not-getting-any-younger paws. Caveat emptor.

The blade that comes with this is terrible. I got through 2 projects, cutting one layer of cotton broadcloth for two baby sized quilts. It got to the point where it wasn't even cutting anymore, so I caved an bought a new blade. It was a night and day difference. The new blade has lasted about 4 projects, my most recent one requiring 4 uniform cuts through 9 layers of fabric. I will have to change the blade after this project.
The blades are way too expensive, especially when the first one will need to be replaced right away. Overall, it is a nice little rotary cutter.
The reason I’m mentioning this is because it’s just as sharp as I need it to be. Very little pressure needed when cutting fabric. I’m not upset or anything, I just wanted to emphasize that it is indeed very sharp.
Pushing the blade out and then retracting it (I suggest this even if you just set it down lol) is very easy to do.
I love this for my mask making.
