Now, the scissors themselves. I have used a pair of these for years, but they grew legs, so I am replacing them with these titanium bladed ones. These scissors cut very smoothly and sharply through up to four layers of quilters cotton. They are easy to use for arthritic hands with the snap back mechanism. They cut to the end of the blades, which are 3.6 inches long, and seem to be lighter than my previous (grey color, non-titanium) scissors were. I expect these to give me many years of use, as my old ones Iused 20 some years.
Update: After over 3 months of using these scissors, I am thrilled. I have been able to hack through old cutter quilts as well as chenille spreads with no trouble. Between these scissors and Penetrex, I can keep on sewing!
It's as good a place as any, though, and works just fine.
The silicone grippy parts are indeed grippy. It's shaped well. Blades are nicely sharp. The whole unit feels sturdy.

Then what's the problem??? Well, honestly, I don't like them for Quilting. I think they'll be awesome for cutting out garments, but not for the small task cutting one normally does when quilting.
I will opt for a pair of shears that don't have the "squeeze" mechanism for cutting to use with my quilting. When quilting, you're snipping ends/points/etc. but not necessarily cutting lengthy paths, and that's where these will be amazing - those "road trip" cutting events, i.e. cutting out garments.
For quick snips/etc. it's a pain to unlock them (I never leave scissors open), snip, then push the button forward to lock them back (close)... A pair of straight shears will do the trick, and these guys will be amazing when it's time to cut out a blouse/pants/etc.

They come in both regular and titanium nitrate versions, and both are excellent. The titanium nitrate version is a few more dollars than the regular (or at least it was when we bought them), but there's not really much advantage to the titanium nitrate coating on these scissors except for cosmetic appearance. The blades won't look as scratched up over time if they're stored with other tools that may rub against them during storage or transport. Outer scratches won't hurt the blades, but sometimes it's nice to have scissors that always look shiny and new. Titanium nitrate coating will not likely save your scissor blades from damage if you cut through pins, though.
Fiskars is a favourite brand of ours, and we're never been disappointed in any of their products. We highly recommend these scissors.
