I wanted a hexie punch for EPP (patchwork), as cutting them out individually was a pain, as well as not very accurate, which is vital in EPP. And for some projects, you need 100s of hexies - I hated doing them! I looked at buying them ready cut from Amazon. But instead discovered hexie punches.

I knew hexies are measured differently for different things. After looking online, I found out that in EPP, we use the measurement of one of the outer edges. And, apparently, a side is always half the measurement of the longest points. Ie this punch is called a 2 inch hexie, whereas in EPP we would call it a 1 inch hexie.

So once I found the correct size, I was a bit put off by some reviews! But Fiskars is such a great brand, I took a chance and am really pleased with it so far. I found it very easy to squeeze the handles - just slightly harder, the thicker the card. I've tried it on different weights of card/paper. Heaviest was a 316 gsm card stock. Others I tried were junk mail - some normal paper, and some slightly heavier paper. And I was pleased with all of them.

If I'm being picky, I did notice you can get a wee bit of 'feathering' around the shape - but only if you really look closely at it (as in my pic). And, to be fair, that probably happens with all punches. And it isn't an issue at all for what I want to use it for.

I can finally make accurate, identical hexies for my projects, in no time at all. A total game changer. Plus I can use all my junk mail! I totally recommend this to anyone, but especially those that EPP.
