As a right-handed person, I got fooled into believing that ambidextrous scissors for kids were the same as scissors for left-handed kids. WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!! My 6 year old has been cutting with ambidextrous scissors ever since she started cutting ... and I believed she cut well - straight lines, good circles, etc. However, when she brought to my attention the other day that she had some "good" scissors and some "bad" scissors - I had to find out what the difference was. So, I did some research only to find even though I thought I had been doing the right thing by getting ambidextrous scissors - it only meant the handle was a shape that either right or left handed people could use - it didn't mean it cut for a leftie. The proof is in the scissors. Scissors truly intended for left handed people will have the left blade raise up when you open them - where as ambidextrous scissors (like scissors for right-handed people) will have the right blade raise up. For a leftie - this causes the paper to almost bend before they can cut it. These are truly as they are advertised. I gave them to my daughter and instantaneoulsy and surprisingly - she started to cut even better and straighter. Would definitely recommend these for a leftie - it is definitely worth the price!

A left handed scissors should have the left blade on top, no matter which way you look. I was little hesitant to buy this scissors as the picture is that of a right handed scissors. The scissors we received is a true left handed one. Note that the scissors has pointed tip and it may not be safe with / around small kids. With a correct picture, I would give this a five star.

This is a great product for left handed children. They are true left handed scissors with the blades in the proper orientation. However, DON'T BUY THEM HERE!! $9.15 for a pair is outrageous. On the Fiskars site, they are only $5.45 a pair and at Office Supply Mart Online, they are only $3.39 a pair. Curiously, just one month ago, here on Amazon, they were only $3.99 a pair. I asked Amazon to explain the price difference, but got a canned answer back about how their prices fluctuate. DO buy these scissors for your child, but don't pay this price.

My poor son got my left handedness. Being a child of the 70's, I was taught that I was living in a right handed world. I was given a pair of right handed scissors and smacked on the tush and was told to figure it out. 30+ years later and I see my son struggling to cut a straight line. I couldn't believe his motor skills were so poor when he is so bright with everything else. I kept getting frustrated with him not being able to cut well. After all, all the scissors at the store say for right handed AND left handed people. What a farce! Finally, I took a pair of those all in one scissors and tried cutting with my left hand. IMPOSSIBLE, I tell you! Of course it's not going to work. With a true pair of left handed scissors, the blades are on the opposite sides. Also, there are no left handed scissors in the state of Minnesota to buy in person. I checked for you. As soon as I bought these, I handed them to my son. Immediately he became the most excellent cutter in the entire world! Well... ok.... the most excellent 4 year old cutter in our house. Or... the only 4 year old with proper scissors in our house that does a pretty darn good job cutting the Angry Birds out that he drew. Bottom line.... you need these scissors. Your kid isn't slow with motor skills. They just need to stop buying into the false advertising of all the other lying scissor companies. Both handed, my behind! And yes, these are great quality! I'm buying a third pair tonight.

My son is left handed and as I watched him struggle to cut out his homework neatly, I realized it was much harder for him than it had to be. We ordered these scissors, much to his excitement, and now he cuts far more smoothly and feels better about his homework. Simple things can make all the difference!

Anyone that has a left-handed child knows how hard it can be to find scissors that work well for them. after trying many many scissors these are the ones that we have found that work the best! My only regret is that I only ordered one pair.

My 7 year old son is a leftie and has a hard time cutting with regular scissors. He always wants to twist his hand and it's just not right. I bought him these because they are true left handed scissors with the blade on the opposite side. This is really helping him to cut correctly and he is much more precise with his cutting now. Highly recommended these to any child who is left handed. And they look super cool, too.

I wouldn't normally review a pair of scissors but need to make an exception here. I highly recommend these scissors to anyone searching for lefty scissors for their child.

Learning to cut as a lefty can be a bit difficult with standard scissors. I wanted to get something that might ease the learning process for my daughter. I originally ordered a pair of Westcott kids lefty scissors. We didn't have them long before I accidentally broke them in two helping her cut something. I faulted myself. While I am a lefty, I'm also an adult -- perhaps I was too forceful with them. Ordered a replacement pair identical to the first, only for my daughter to break them herself in the same manor within weeks of having them. These on the other hand have worked great from the get go and have held up well. They seem to work great for a lefty and I would recommend them to anyone looking for lefty scissors (which aren't the easiest to find).
