So how have they broken for me? The claw had a tine break off when I was attempting to loosen up some soil for planting some flowers. Essentially I was striking with it rapidly and hit a rock in the dirt, which caused the break. Now things may have been different had I placed it in a spot and pressed it into the packed dirt, then leveraged it to break up the soil.
Had one of my guys break the tip of the trowel off trying to pry a brick out of the ground. And a few guys break the tool where it meets the handle. Not real sure what the guys were doing any of those times. Then one guy broke off a corner of a trowel near the tip banging it to knock stuff off of it.
In short, They are much sturdier than the cheap tools and for normal light use, they work and hold up great. They are not good for prying or striking. Which I would imagine most people would just use these in their home garden/flower beds. Thus wouldn't have some of the issues some of us others have had. Still, with what you are getting you could do better for the same price and get a much better bang for your buck.
I recently put in my vegetable garden and used all 3 of these tools. The claw-like cultivator was great for chopping up the large chunks in the organic soil I bought. I used both of the trowels to dig holes in which to place bedding plants. The one trowel even has measuring marks on it to help you plant at the proper soil depth. I also suggest getting the Fiskars 7068 Composite Soil Scoop as it is great for transferring soil from the bag to your garden containers, raised beds, etc. and the ( Fiskars 9424 Garden Bucket Caddy to hold your tools for easy transport to the garden.
Since I do container gardening, I have not used these tools to try to dig into the ground as I buy soil from the store for my buckets and raised garden bed. I don't think it's fair to expect a small, inexpensive tool to dig into hard earth or pull out substantial root balls. A tiller or other heavy duty tool should be used for that. For working with pre-tilled and commercially-purchased soil, however, I have had no trouble at all with these tools bending or breaking. I haven't even felt any "give" at all in the handles.
Definitely recommended.
