- Excellent power-to-size ratio
- Quality handle allows for a good grip even when your hands get sweaty
- Perfect for everyday deadheading of flowers and trimming small branches
- Well-made product that holds up well with frequent use
- Good value
- These pruners won't be able to cut through thickets stems and branches (which of course they aren't intended to)
- After using the pruners, wipe off the blades with a damp cloth and let them dry for a few minutes before you slip the cover back over the blade. That will help the blades stay sharp and last longer.
UPDATE: So after using them for trimming plant matter, I can honestly say I see ZERO difference in these blades and the non-stick blades! These gum up so fast I forget they are supposed to be non-stick! The one thing I expect a pair of "NON-STICK" scissors to do is NOT STICK!
5-star rating reduced to 3-stars! These are not worth the extra money over the regular trimmers! Fortunately, I bought them for the same price as the regular ones.
Today I asked a bit more of these pruners...actually maybe too much. By coincidence, both of our well used and aged pruners bit the dust last week so I ordered two new pairs. The larger by-pass pruners don't arrive until Tuesday. Today day I wanted to trim my Jasmine bush...mostly only 3 month old new growth. There is a limit to the thickness of branch you can cut with these and, of course, I knew that. If the stem is at all brown, you can pretty much expect it to be too heavy for these to cut through. I must say I did cut a few decent size branches off without damaging them but it's NOT recommended by me. Also I again had problems with them locking up on me a few times.
These are nice little pruners for snipping tender leafy plants. They're great for trimming leaves off rose stems when you're creating bouquets, and my husband loved them when he went out to thin out a new planting of lettuce. We just cut the tender plants we're thinning out at the base and leave the roots in the ground. Thinning by pulling out sometimes disturbs the root systems of adjacent plants. Their name says it all. The words "micro" and "snip" mean just that. These are nice little snipers. Oh...and they do have nice sharp blades....even after trimming my Jasmine bush...lol
TL;DR - Go buy it. Now.
I own many Fiskars. Sharp and usually well made.
The handles are soft to the touch and don't slip in my hand. I ground the point off of the tip having stabed myself with another pair of Fiskar scissors with a pointy tip. Unless you are doing surgery with these, rounding off the tips will save your hide! The little orange rubbery tip cover will disappear sooner or later. Although, being international orange helps one spot it amongst green leaves.
I noticed that the little plastic anchor for the locking button has already started to wear off where it first engages the button (see photo) after just a dozen locks. I don't expect the lock will last long. Lifetime warranty will no doubt cover this but they will go back to Amazon if they don't hold up after a few days.
I have ordered other brands of shears just encase these don't hold up.
Overall they will cut!
