Sharp, but points struggle

These scissors are great but only up to a point. I had to cut lots of letters out of fabric and they worked unless I needed to use the very point to get into sharp corners. When using the point, the blades tended to spread and not cut. This was with one layer of cotton and a bit of press on bonding. Great for cutting threads and the middle, but they couldn't handle the whole job.

Fiskars Stitcher Scissors (No. 5)

Mainly writing a review and posting pictures to ease people's minds of whether they're made in Finland or not. The first two photos are how they came and I took closeups of the scissors. The blade has "Fiskars Stainless Finland" printed on it and the handle has "Fiskars Finland" on it. Not sure if what's printed on the scissors is convincing for everyone, but that's all I can say.

There were a pair of these laying around my boyfriend's home and I used them to trim my dog's fur around her feet. Granted, they were not made for that purpose, but that's what I ended up using them for. That pair had "Fiskars Stainless" on the blade and "Fiskars 91 USA" on the handle. The handle broke and I was super sad because they were a nice pair of scissors (very precise and sharp). Came onto Amazon and got this pair and JUST used it. They are even more precise and sharper--not sure if it's the Finland factor or just the fact that they were brand new.

Regardless if they're made in Finland or not, very happy with my purchase. I know it seems ridiculous to pay $12.00 for a pair of scissors, but I think they're worth the price tag.

The product description is incorrect. These scissors aren't 7.88 inches long, they are just shy of 5 inches. The picture is accurate, just the measurements aren't. That being said, it turns out that these were exactly what I was looking for. I have a pair like this that is 10 years old and still working great, but I wanted another pair in my laundry room. I didn't want the juvenile looking 5 inch pair with the lighter orange and bit rounded looking handle with a screw instead of the solid pin this one has. This one is identical to the one I purchased all those years ago. These are pricey but worth every bit of it.

If you've read any of the customer reviews for this particular item, you'll understand when I say "I got lucky!" My scissors as well as the packaging say made in Finland. I've yet to buy/use a pair of Fiskars scissors that I wasn't happy with. (My most favorite were purchased on a whim off of a closeout table. They are unique in that the blades slide into a magnetic backed holder allowing one to stick it to the fridge or wherever you feel the handiest location might be. They're five years old, I use them literally every day (kitchen stuff only) and they are still as sharp as ever.)

But I digress. I bought the "No. 5 Stitcher Scissors" to use strictly for cutting decoupage. The stainless blades are super sharp with sharp points. The blades move effortlessly and are perfect for my chosen use. I see two improvements that could be made. 1) Comfort grip handles would be welcome. These are the standard orange plastic. 2) They're so small and sharp I wish they had a protective plastic piece to slide the blades into. Since they do not, I'm keeping mine in an old hard eyeglasses case which works nicely. Needing a pair of back ups so I'm never without (like this last time) please see my review for EK Tools Precision Scissors, Small, New Package. I think they are superior to the Fiskars. All my reviews are posted as Serious Shopper.

Fiskars makes the best and sharpest scissors I have ever used. I own several pairs of this size and they have a multitude of uses. They are well-made and last for years. My only complaint about this new pair is that it doesn't come with a plastic sheath to cover the blades like my older pairs came with. That's a nice addition because they are so incredibly sharp. I have bought look-a-like brands, but the quality is not the same.

I am so glad I read the review and bought the ones made in Finland, not China. These are everything they have always been not the cheap stuff they are making now. Maybe someone else is putting the name Fiskars on cheap knockoffs. Watch what you buy.

These are really sharp and give me a clean cut for my yarn. I'm able to cut close to knots and stitches. I bought several as backups when I travel or go to my crochet group but these are really as good as I could want. Everyone likes them. The grip is great. Remember, these are my yarn snippers, not scissors to use for cutting out fabric patterns. The blades are not long.
