I'm an artist and use very heavy weight watercolor paper, and can successfully cut 2 sheets of 140# cold press 100% cotton paper at a time which is awesome. I haven't yet tried my 300# paper yet but would assume it will cut one sheet easily. If you're a Crafter using scrapbook papers you'll have absolutely no problem.
I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!
I have been using it for around 2 years cutting papers and photos and never had an issue. I haven't even change the blade!
It's really easy to use, and the fact that you can hide the ruler makes it really easy to storage.
I don't use it every day but pretty often. I would recommend this product yo my friend.

They will send you either a replacement wire part that is very easy to insert once you remove old one, or if you bump into a kind soul they will send you an entirely new one. All they ask is for a photo of damaged trimmer. All this can be done online but it is faster if you call their warranty number first and try to speak to someone and they only ask you just for an email with photo. All that said, at least they don't leave you high and dry.
However, it gets a little old having to call them each time the wire frays (yes, it will happen again and again)..it is a design flaw ..the blade cuts the wire as it cuts your paper ...ugh. They stand by their lifetime warranty but if you do not have the time or energy or much less the inclination to deal with Fiskars every three months... stay away from this particular trimmer. One other option they suggest so you can keep using the trimmer (while you await your replacement) is to completely cut the wire...I did it but since I am old and blind it is a little bit harder to gauge where you are cutting.
Anyhow, to all those who have already bought it... Don't buy a new one before checking out Fiskar's warranty on their website. I have the same trimmer, (bought May 2012)and three months in the wired frayed badly. I filled out warranty form online and sent as they require a picture of damaged trimmer. Within 10 days they sent me a new wire part replacement. This week I called again (same issue ) and they are sending me a new trimmer not just the replacement wire part. They are aware that there is a design flaw on this item but at least they stand by their product.
I know it is annoying, but most companies don't help you out twice with same product and much less a year after the purchase. If I knew this before hand I wouldn't have bought it but once you are in... you got to get your money's worth. All it will cost you is a little effort and time. It is after all a lifetime warranty. Best of luck!
My recommendations are as follow:
To all those who are considering buying....DON'T ...
To all those who have already bought it and can return... DO ...and to those like me who realized the flaw too late to return, may a higher power give you the patience and resiliency necessary to exert your warranty rights..
I love this thing. The hubby has a guillotine paper cutter in storage. Not wanting to go sift through storage to find it and also not really wanting that huge thing taking up my limited desk space, I ordered this and the separate scoring tool / extra blade set. I am just getting into the concept of a traveler's journal setup and haven't been impressed with the value of the inserts. I decided to try making my own. This is perfect for that. I can cut a couple of sheets at a time and then once they are all cut, switch out the blade for the scoring tool. It makes the process much faster and definitely more accurate than I can do by hand (either with guidelines I tend to be a little shaky and crooked). Without this tool I would not be satisfied with what I could make on my own, but with this tool I have already started making them.
Definitely my new fave crafting tool.
