Madison is completely clueless, and I love it. She's naive, but a smart alec. She stumbles through an absolutely crazy first week on her new job, and after many mishaps, manages to save the day (for now). Her love of animals really made her appealing to me. Between an engaging cast of characters, a unique twist on the good vs evil story, and a plot that feels like a wild roller coaster ride, I am totally ready to grab the next book and devour it as soon as I can!
Here's what I liked: Mr. Bond. The lore behind the story with light and darkness. Dr. Love. Madison is someone with who I can emotionally connect with. You certainly get to see growth with her. The author keeps the same pace with the humor through the entire book.
Here's what I didn't like: the misuse of words. Like shutter should have been shudder, feed should have been feet. It happened often enough for me to notice it and it detracted away from my reading experience.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and will pick up the next one some time in the future. 3.5 stars
So this is basically a book about a woman trying to learn to stop evil and also figure out who she was meant to be. There are many things I liked about this book. It was funny and light and the main character has promise of really becoming more and more interesting. There are many different directions that the author can go with this which speaks of quality world building and story development. There were a few issues in my opinion, the story could have been a bit tighter. Somehow it felt like it went on longer than it needed to. Also I didn't like the main character as much as I could. I didn't always understand her decision making. I couldn't understand all of the authors choices. They weren't wrong, just different, so I wasn't as absorbed into the story as I would like. Overall the series has great promise and I definitely want to read the next one.
