So this is basically a book about a woman trying to learn to stop evil and also figure out who she was meant to be. There are many things I liked about this book. It was funny and light and the main character has promise of really becoming more and more interesting. There are many different directions that the author can go with this which speaks of quality world building and story development. There were a few issues in my opinion, the story could have been a bit tighter. Somehow it felt like it went on longer than it needed to. Also I didn't like the main character as much as I could. I didn't always understand her decision making. I couldn't understand all of the authors choices. They weren't wrong, just different, so I wasn't as absorbed into the story as I would like. Overall the series has great promise and I definitely want to read the next one.
Second: while there are plenty of lustful glances it is mostly Madison's lusting after various men and then embarrassing herself. No actual hanky-panky.
Paranormal-ish romance-lite that avoids most of the popular tropes. Madison has no idea she can do nothing except 'see' people's souls. She certainly has no idea there might be a paying job available to people who can see what she can see.
The danger comes as a complete surprise. Of course, most people in her new line of work have been practicing since they wee teenagers.
I look forward to the next in the series. The writing is clever, the dialog amusing, and the magic system is different from most other paranormal worlds.
There were some minor continuity issues (how many times did she 'sit down' in a chair in the opening scene?!?), but for light reading it is fun.

It's a more believable story with a main character JUST Learning their powers.
I want to learn more about each character.
