I contacted Amazon customer service and they told me there is no similar complain about the products... I told them I think no one ordered more than one mat, that's the reason other people did not have anything else to compare their product with each other!! So other customers didn't realize!
I ordered the pink one again, but who can guarantee that they will ship it as it seems on the images they have on Amazon website?
Here are the images that shows they really look different!
UPDATE: The seller sent me a replacement mat! Thank you.
My first thought wasn't a good thought since it reminded me of the yoga mats I use at class and I've grown to dislike them because they are slippery, and even though they're thick, they don't feel thick. So, with that in mind, I rolled out the mat, and flowed from mountain pose to child's pose. As soon as my knees hit the mat and I pushed my hips back for child's pose, I fell in love with this purple mat. Seriously.
The yoga mat feels like it is made of memory foam, so not only did I sink into the mat while I was in a resting pose, but I found it even more enjoyable. When I moved from plank to down dog, my hands felt cushioned in place and when they did move, I wasn't slipping and sliding all over the mat. I felt more controlled in my practice and more comfortable, which is something I rarely feel since I'm newer to yoga.
Another great thing about this product is it comes with a strap to keep it rolled up and easy to carry. You don't have to fight to fit it in a bag, just roll and Velcro, and be on your way.
I highly suggest this yoga mat for anyone who is looking to start practicing yoga. As I know well, when starting yoga, you spend a lot of time on your mat while watching instructors or videos show you how "simple" each pose is. Then, you struggle, and often fall, or let your knees drop to the mat, and with this mat being thicker and sturdier, I really you'd find a little more comfort in this mat vs. something thinner.
Fit Spirit Yoga Mat is an excellent product, great quality, and has a fun selection of colors. I'm looking forward to using this mat as I continue to grow in my practice.
I bought this mat in orange after a rather exhaustive search on Amazon. I read many, many reviews searching for others with my same set of parameters. I was in need of a new exercise mat to meet my following specifications:
- Thick and comfy to dampen the stress and discomfort on my joints that came from my previous too-thin mat on my office's concrete floor
- Colorful and inviting to work out on
- Easy to store
- MOST IMPORTANTLY, would not easily slide on said concrete floor
My previous mat was a generic yoga mat I'd had for years. It came with a yoga DVD, and it worked fine when I worked out at home on my carpet, but as soon as I became serious about working out and began using my lunch break to workout in our company gym, I realized the necessity of a thicker, better quality mat. More specifically, when I would do planks from my knees, I couldn't even finish because of the discomfort on my bones, and when I did crunches, my tail bone ached. Even worse, my mat would slide in warrior pose or downward dog, and I couldn't maintain necessary form, costing myself valuable time and energy.
Knowing that I needed a better slip resistant mat more than anything else, I began searching for 1/2 inch thick mats with reviews discussing slip resistance, and after looking at Fit Spirit's reviews, I found this made me feel the most confidant. I selected the bold and beautiful orange mat, and I'm happy to see this is EVERYTHING I wanted in a mat.
Upon first unrolling, it had both a bit of a "mat" smell and was kinked at the end pretty good from being rolled so long. Additionally, there were some notches from the carrying bands, but all of that faded within two days. From the first moment I laid on it, it was like floating on a darn cloud, and relaxation pose has never been more rewarding! I could honestly sleep on this mat if I ever need comfort while camping.
As for thickness, this absolutely lives up to its marketing. It's so thick, I see the imprints of my toes, heels, and hands in it throughout the duration of my workout, but it's back to its fluffy self the next day.
One side of the mat is smooth, the other is lightly ribbed. I find that laying the ribbed side down gets the best grip on the concrete floors, and I do not slide at all. I consciously try before each workout to ensure I won't encounter struggles during, but I have yet to slip because of the mat (no guarantees on my own balance though). I imagine if you're working on carpeting, you could use the ribbed side for better grip for yourself as well.
I cannot speak to how this holds up to hot yoga because the thought of hot yoga makes me want to curl up on this mat and die, but needless to say, I can only say that in a typical temperature-controlled space under a demanding workout, I have no trouble with sweat impacting my moves on the mat.
The carrying straps are kind of too much work for me to bother with on a daily basis. I just roll it up in the corner and it stays fine. They're not hard to put on--I'm just too lazy to do it.
I may update after a year or so to say how it's held up to my 2-day a week workouts requiring a mat, but for now, it's everything I could have hoped for and more.
